Nolin was handed a five-game suspension Friday for intentionally hitting Freddie Freeman with a pitch earlier in the week, but he'll appeal the ban and will remain available until his appeal is heard, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin appeared to be retaliating for an incident in which Juan Soto was hit by a pitch Tuesday, as he threw behind Freeman with his first pitch the next day and hit him with his second. Manager Dave Martinez was also handled a one-game ban and will elect not to appeal.

Nolin was ejected during the first inning of Wednesday's game against Atlanta for intentionally hitting Freddie Freeman with a pitch, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nationals star Juan Soto was plunked during the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest, and this appeared to be a direct retaliation by the left-hander. Nolin threw behind Freeman on the first pitch before hitting him with the second offering, after which he was ejected. Washington's bullpen will need to record all but one out Wednesday, while Nolin is likely to face additional discipline from the league. According to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com, the 31-year-old could be utilized out of the bullpen Thursday after manager Dave Martinez was forced to rely heavily on his relievers due to the ejection.

Nolin didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-2 extra-inning loss to the Mets, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Facing the Mets for the third time in four starts since joining the Nats' rotation, Nolin didn't have much trouble navigating through the New York lineup despite the familiarity. The journeyman southpaw tossed 63 of 102 pitches for strikes but was in line for his third loss of the year until the Washington offense finally showed a flicker of life against Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning. Nolin has managed a palatable 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through 10.1 innings over his last two outings, and the organization has no better options for his rotation spot.

Nolin allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts through 5.1 innings, taking a no-decision in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
In just his third major league start since returning from a six-year hiatus, Nolin poured in his best outing of the season. He handled everybody not named Kevin Pillar on the night, as the only damage to his line came via two solo homers off the bat of the Mets' outfielder. While the six strikeouts are a season high for the well-travelled lefty, he has now allowed four home runs in just 12.1 innings.

Nolin (0-2) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks over four innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin's rough afternoon started right out of the gate with Kolten Wong taking him deep for a leadoff homer on Nolin's second pitch of the game. The 31-year-old southpaw then gave up a two-run triple to Wong in the fourth. In his two big-league appearances this season, Nolin's been tagged with seven runs in as many innings while taking a loss in both. For now, it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation.

Nolin will start Sunday's game against the Brewers, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin took the loss in Game 1 of the Aug. 12 doubleheader against the Mets, allowing four runs on eight hits across three innings. Despite the underwhelming outing, the left-hander will get another opportunity to get his second career big-league win Sunday. Per Mark Zuckerman, manager Davey Martinez wouldn't commit to Nolin taking Joe Ross' (elbow) rotation spot permanently, but that figures to be a possibility.

Nolin (0-1) took the loss in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Nationals. He allowed four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and zero walks in three innings.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin made his first MLB appearance since 2015, and New York didn't have any issues getting on base against him. It'll likely only be a spot start for the left-hander since Washington has three scheduled off days within the next couple weeks.

Nolin is listed as the Nationals' starting pitcher for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Called up from Triple-A Rochester a day earlier to give Washington an extra arm out of the bullpen for the resumption of Tuesday's suspended contest, Nolin wasn't needed after Joe Ross (five innings) handled bulk-relief duties. Due to Thursday's twin bill, the Nationals will need to add a sixth starter to the mix temporarily, so Nolin will get the nod for what will mark his first MLB start since 2015. The 31-year-old lefty compiled a 3.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 52:15 K:BB across 47.1 innings at Rochester this season.

Nolin's contract was selected by the Nationals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin began the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Rochester after he played for the Seibu Lions of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball last season. He's posted a 3.78 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 52.1 innings across 12 appearances (nine starts), and the 31-year-old lefty could be an option to start or eat innings in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Mets. The Nationals optioned reliever Sam Clay to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Nolin signed a contract with Seibu on Thursday, Patrick Newman of NPBTracker.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nolin spent the 2019 season in Seattle's farm system, firing 79.1 innings at Triple-A Tacoma. He posted a 4.76 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 74:26 K:BB over that stretch as a starter. Nolin last appeared in the big leagues during the 2015 season with Oakland, accruing a 5.28 ERA over 29 innings of work.
