Doolittle earned his sixth save of the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over Colorado.
EDGE Analysis
The former Athletic is 3-for-3 in save opportunities with his new team, with Sunday's perfect outing serving as redemption for the three-hit, three-run debacle in his last appearance Wednesday against Milwaukee. As long as he continues to deliver the goods, he should remain the preferred ninth-inning man for manager Dusty Baker, giving him plenty of value in all but the shallowest of leagues.

Doolittle allowed one unearned run on a walk and a strikeout en route to his second save as a National on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw has allowed a run in both of his save opportunities thus far, but he continues to navigate through the frames to seal the win. Saturday was no different, as he had to overcome a fielding error to retire the side, ultimately forcing him to fire 18 pitches (13 strikes) to finish things out. The runs aren't great to see, but given the prior bullpen struggles the Nationals have endured this season, Doolittle's ability to actually save the game should keep him in high regard in Washington's relief corps.

Doolittle gave up a run on a walk and a hit in the ninth inning, but held on to record his first save for the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Meanwhile Ryan Madson threw a scoreless eighth inning. It's not clear which of Washington's two new relievers will be the primary closer, but it looks like Doolittle is the first option after Tuesday's game.

Doolittle and Ryan Madson, who were both acquired from the Athletics on Sunday, won't join the Nationals until Tuesday in advance of the team's road game against the Angels, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals play the Reds in Cincinnati on Monday, but with the game beginning at 12:35 p.m. EDT, the two relievers wouldn't have had much time to fly over from California to get acclimated with their new team. Instead, Doolittle's Nationals debut will likely come during the series in Anaheim, but it's not immediately clear if he'll merit consideration for closing duties or if manager Dusty Baker prefers the lefty in a setup role. In an interview Monday with Jim Bowden of Siriux XM Fantasy Sports Radio, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo indicated that Madson was the club's primary target in the trade before Doolittle was included as part of an expanded deal, which perhaps suggests that Madson is likelier of the two pitchers to vie for save chances.

Doolittle was traded to the Nationals on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doolittle will immediately become one of the top hurlers out of Washington's bullpen following a trade that saw fellow reliever Ryan Madson head over to the National League while the A's received Blake Treinen and two prospects (Jesus Lazardo and Sheldon Neuse) from the Nationals' farm system. Throughout the course of the 2017 season, Doolittle has posted a 3.38 ERA with a 0.66 WHIP during 21.2 innings of work. He offers a phenomenal 31:2 K:BB and should provide a steadying presence in high-leverage situations for the Nationals moving forward.

Doolittle (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning Saturday, while striking out one, to earn the win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The clean frame would make him the pitcher of record after Ryon Healy drove in the winning tally in the ninth inning. Doolittle owns a 3.72 ERA but has a dazzling duo of 13.0 K/9 and 0.9 BB/9 that could make him the closer should the Athletics shuffle their bullpen at the trade deadline.

Doolittle gave up two earned runs on two hits and a walk in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty hadn't been scored upon and had given up just one hit in the seven appearances he'd made since coming off the disabled list prior to Friday's outing. The free pass he issued also marked his first since returning, and the 28 pitches he ended up throwing in a ragged ninth were a season high. Despite the stumble, Doolittle has proven to be one of manager Bob Melvin's steadiest options out of the bullpen, and he still boasts a solid 2.87 ERA to go along with a stellar 0.64 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB.

Doolittle was credited with his sixth hold of the season in Friday's 3-0 win over the White Sox, firing a scoreless eighth inning and recording two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
It doesn't get much better than Doolittle's effort Friday, one that saw him ring up three outs on just eight pitches, all of which were strikes. The veteran lefty's return to the mechanics that helped him rack up 44 holds during the 2012-13 seasons -- a tweak he made while on the disabled list with a shoulder injury -- has been a rousing success, as Doolittle has surrendered just one hit over the five innings he's pitched in five appearances since his return.

Doolittle threw a clean ninth inning with a strikeout for his third save Sunday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Doolittle continues to excel in the absence of Santiago Casilla, who is still out after being hit in his non-throwing shoulder by a line drive. Doolittle has been impressive when healthy this season as this strong outing brought his ERA down to 2.31.

Doolittle struck out the side to record his second save of the season during Saturday's win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Closer Santiago Casilla was hit by a foul ball in the non-throwing shoulder during Saturday's game, so Doolittle handled the ninth inning and picked up the save. Doolittle has dealt with his own shoulder injury this season and has been limited to just 10.2 innings through 12 appearances. He's still posted an impressive 2.53 ERA, 0.66 WHIP, 14.3 K/9 and now has two saves, though. Additionally, it appears Doolittle is next in line for save opportunities behind Casilla.
