Doolittle allowed a solo homer to Joey Rickard but was able to induce three fly outs to secure the win for the Nationals on Tuesday. The reliever has now notched five saves in June and owns a brilliant 1.71 ERA and 0.57 WHIP on the year. He'll continue to operate as the team's closer following the acquisition of Kelvin Herrera on Monday.

Doolittle will continue to serve as Washington's closer following Monday's trade for Kelvin Herrera, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doolittle has put up outstanding numbers through the first few months of the 2018 campaign, so it's no surprise that the Nationals will stick with him as their closer. He's posted a 1.52 ERA and 0.57 WHIP with an outstanding 41:3 K:BB over 29.2 innings this season.

Doolittle struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 17th save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
He's blown only one save all year so far, and Doolittle's numbers are among the league's elite as he's posted a 1.52 ERA and 41:3 K:BB through 29.2 innings. If he can stay healthy, the left-hander should easily top last year's career-high 24 saves, and he could get there by the All-Star break.

The left-hander gave up as many hits in his first nine pitches as Max Scherzer did in his eight innings, but Doolittle quickly settled down after picking off Craig Gentry trying to steal third base for his first out. EDGE Analysis
Michael Taylor's walkoff double in the bottom half of the frame gave Doolittle the win, as the left-hander bounced back from his first blown save of the season in his last appearance Saturday. The Nats closer now sports a dominant 2.18 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 33:3 K:BB through 20.2 innings this year.

Doolittle allowed one hit and struck out one over a scoreless ninth inning Sunday to record his ninth save of the season in a win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Nats manager Dave Martinez has been keeping a close eye on Doolittle's workload, and it's been paying off, as the left-hander's reeled off 10 straight scoreless appearances with a 12:0 K:BB in 10.2 innings over that stretch while picking up seven saves and a win. He'll likely continue to cede the occasional save to Ryan Madson, but if it keeps Doolittle healthy -- last year's 51.1 innings was his highest total since 2014 -- those with fantasy shares in the closer will be more than happy with the tradeoff.

He's been one of the best closers in baseball to this point in the season, as evidenced by his 1.62 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and pristine 25:3 K:BB over 16.2 innings.
