We should know more about his status following the examination, but Rolen will not be ready to return from the disabled list when he's eligible Friday. A report from the Associated Press says that Scott Rolen "can't lift his left shoulder very far." Rolen landed on the DL Friday due to inflammation in his left shoulder and the left side of his neck. The third baseman has had shoulder problems for years, and this specific issue gave him fits in the second half last season and on two occasions this year. He received injections the first time around to help the malady clear up, but at this time an additional injection is not planned. Rolen said Saturday that he won't swing a bat for a while. A timetable for his return is up in the air.
