Scott Linebrink (shoulder) was scheduled to throw in a bullpen session in St. Louis on Sunday. Linebrink is still considered weeks away from a return, but he's finally showing some signs of progress. Assuming he avoids a setback, he could be rejoin the Cardinals sometime in June.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) could begin throwing off a mound next week. Linebrink is finally showing some progress with his right shoulder capsulitis. If he doesn't have any more setbacks, he should be ready sometime in June.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) is currently playing catch from a distance of 90 feet. Linebrink will stretch it out to 120 feet before throwing off flat ground. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off a mound by the Cardinals' current seven-game homestand. The veteran right-hander has been on the disabled list all season with right shoulder capsulitis.

Scott Linebrink plans to resume throwing this weekend after receiving a pain-relieving shot in his right shoulder. Linebrink, who was placed on the DL after the first game of the season due to shoulder capsulitis, experienced renewed right shoulder tightness during a bullpen session Sunday. There's currently no timetable for his return.

Scott Linebrink experienced renewed right shoulder tightness during a Sunday bullpen session. Linebrink will visit with an orthopedist this week to determine whether he has suffered a significant setback. The veteran right-hander has been on the disabled list since the start of the regular season because of shoulder capsulitis and remains out indefinitely.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) completed his first bullpen session Thursday. He threw 25 pitches in the first of what should be two or three sessions. It's a step in the right direction for Linebrink, who hasn't pitched since spring training. If all goes well, he could return to the Cardinals by mid-May.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) has intensified his throwing program in recent days and hopes to begin throwing off a mound within a week. Linebrink said he no longer feels pain, but that flexibility is "the biggest issue right now." The veteran right-hander would seem to be on track to return in early May if all goes well.

Cardinals placed RHP Scott Linebrink on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with right shoulder capsulitis. Linebrink pitched well this spring, posting a 0.93 ERA in 9 2/3 innings, but he suffered the injury in his final appearance. It's not clear at this point how long the veteran reliever might be out. Victor Marte replaces him in the bullpen.

Scott Linebrink has flown back to St. Louis to undergo an MRI on his sore right lat. The 35-year-old right-hander is expected to land on the 15-day disabled list and the Cardinals are expected to promote reliever Victor Marte. Linebrink posted a cool 0.93 ERA in 9 2/3 innings this spring but apparent came down with some inflammation before the Redbirds headed north.
