Scott Atchison injured himself before an appearance on Tuesday against the Braves. Atchison had just returned from the DL earlier in the day but hurt himself while warming up. The good news is that it appeared to be a groin injury and not an aggravation of his elbow malady.

Mets activated RHP Scott Atchison from the 15-day disabled list. The Mets are allowed to have a 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader, but they will have to make a roster move before Zack Wheeler makes his major league debut in the nightcap. While there's no official announcement yet, Justin Turner (intercostal) appears likely to be placed on the disabled list. Atchison, out since May 14 with elbow inflammation, returns to a 4.50 ERA and 6/6 K/BB ratio over 18 innings.

Atchison began a rehab assignment on Wednesday at Double-A Binghamton and should be cleared for activation after one or two more appearances. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since May 14 with a sore elbow.

Scott Atchison (elbow) is beginning a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton Wednesday. Atchison has a bone spur and torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow but will attempt to pitch through the ailment. He should rejoin the Mets' bullpen in a few days as long as he avoids a setback.

Scott Atchison will not need surgery for a bone spur in his right elbow after receiving a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. Atchison is also dealing with a torn ligament in the elbow, but he'll attempt to pitch through both ailments. He should rejoin the Mets' bullpen before long.

Atchison threw a perfect inning last Saturday in an appearance with High-A St. Lucie, but his rehab assignment has been put on hold. The veteran right-hander will either require surgery to remove a bone spur or attempt to rest and rehab the injury once again.

Scott Atchison (elbow) threw a perfect inning Saturday in his first rehab game with High-A St. Lucie. Pitching through a torn ligament in his right elbow, Atchison should be activated soon. He put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 19 games before landing on the DL.
