Houston manager Dusty Baker said Pressly was unavailable to pitch Sunday due to a sore arm.

The Astros finished out a series in San Diego on Sunday and didn't need Pressly that day, nor was he needed in Seattle on Monday. It's unclear the extent of the soreness or how much time Pressly needs. Kendall Graveman should be considered the fill-in at closer.

Pressly worked around a one-out Nick Solak double to notch his 21st save of the year. The veteran right-hander has been rock-solid all season, converting 21 of 23 save opportunities with a 1.87 ERA and 0.91 WHIP over 53 innings. Pressly may be in line for a day off in Sunday's series finale after picking up the save each of the last two nights.

Pressly allowed two hits in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 5-4 win over Texas.

The save was Pressly's 20th in 22 chances this year. The 32-year-old has excelled in his first full season as a closer, with a sparkling 1.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 65:9 K:BB across 52 innings. He's allowed just one run on six hits and a walk while striking out 10 in eight innings in August, although he's picked up just two saves, a win and a blown save in eight appearances for the month.

Pressly struck out two batters and allowed a solo home run Sunday, blowing a save chance in a loss to the Mariners.

Pressly was tasked with protecting a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning but immediately served up a leadoff blast to Ty France. He tossed five shutout innings this month prior to Sunday and his ERA bounced to 1.98 through 50 innings. He's 19-for-21 in save opportunities with a terrific 63:9 K:BB.

Pressly (5-1) earned the win in relief Thursday against the Royals after tossing a scoreless ninth inning, allowing two hits.

Pressly gave up singles to Carlos Santana and Hunter Dozier, and he found himself with runners on the corners and two outs, but he retired Hanser Alberto on a groundout to come away unscathed. The offensive explosion in the top of the 10th allowed him to earn the win, but perhaps more importantly, Pressly has now tossed five straight scoreless outings. In fact, he has allowed just four earned runs across 11 innings since the All-Star break.

Pressly, who hadn't pitched in four days, entered in a non-save situation and shut the door on Colorado. All three of his appearances since coming off the paternity list have been of the non-save variety. All three featured the combination of Ryne Stanek (seventh inning), Kendall Graveman (eighth) and Pressly (ninth). The once-beleaguered Astros bullpen has become boring of late, which is fine by manager Dusty Baker. That trio of relievers have combined to pitch 13.1 scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and 19 strikeouts since the trade deadline.

The Astros reinstated Pressly (personal) from the paternity list Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

According to delos Santos, manager Dusty Baker said he doesn't have a timeline for when Pressly will rejoin the team after the All-Star closer and his wife recently welcomed a baby boy into the world. Players placed on the paternity leave list are eligible to remain away from the team for 1-to-3 days, so if Pressly isn't ready to rejoin the Astros ahead of the two-game set with the Dodgers that begins Tuesday, Houston could move him to the restricted list. Kendall Graveman will likely be the team's top option for the ninth inning if a save chance is available for Sunday's series finale in San Francisco.
