Pressly was ejected from Sunday's game against the Royals in the bottom of the ninth inning for throwing inside to Michael Taylor, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

If the league ultimately determines that he was intentionally throwing inside, Pressly could face a suspension. Prior to Sunday's ejection, the right-hander allowed a run on no hits and a walk while failing to strike out a batter in two-thirds of an inning.

Pressly pitched in his familiar ninth-inning role, though it wasn't in a save situation. Even so, it was positive to see him turn in a scoreless effort, his second in three appearances since he was activated from the injured list. Pressly has maintained the closer role in Houston to this point, though he'll need to be effective as Rafael Montero has pitched very well to begin the campaign.

Pressly struck out one and did not allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Tigers.

EDGE Analysis

Pressly made his second appearance since returning from the injured list and bounced back from a blown save in his first outing. He retired Tucker Barnhart, Derek Hill and Javier Baez on only eight pitches. He now has four saves in six opportunities this season, but he has only three strikeouts across 5.1 innings of work. Despite a bumpy start to the campaign, it appears that manager Dusty Baker remains comfortable with turning to Pressly in the ninth inning.
