Goins earned a spot on the Royals' Opening Day roster, Maria Torres of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Goins inked a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training back in late January, and did just enough to break camp with the club. He will serve as a reserve infielder behind Whit Merrifield and Alcides Escobar moving forward.

Goins agreed to a minor-league contract with the Royals on Wednesday which includes an invitation to spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Goins will move on from Toronto after being non-tendered by the club following eight years with the organization, as the second baseman looks to find a role with the Royals in 2018. Last season, he appeared in a career-high 143 major-league games, slashing .237/.286/.356 with nine home runs and 62 RBI, both of which were also career bests. The soon-to-be 30-year-old should provide a solid safety net at both the second base and shortstop position for Kansas City, but obviously has limited upside for fantasy purposes.

Goins' 2018 contract has not been tendered by the Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Goins specializes a utility infielder, but has never been one to rack up stats at the plate to push him on to the fantasy radar. It's possible he will find work elsewhere in a similar role, though his viability form a fantasy standpoint is unlikely to change regardless of where he lands.

Goins went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs during Monday's game against Boston.
EDGE Analysis
Monday marked just the third time all season in which Goins collected more than two hits. Although his .235 batting average for the year is unattractive, the infielder is sporting a decent .268 mark in September while tallying three homers, nine RBI and nine runs during the month. Goins' volume alone is worth consideration in many formats.

Goins went 1-for-3 with a grand slam Friday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Goins blasted his eighth homer of the season to break open the game in the sixth inning of a home victory. Despite his heroics in this contest, his .228/.280/.343 slash line has made him a very weak fantasy option this season.

Goins is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Goins will head to the bench for a breather after starting 15 straight games, going 17-for-54 (.315) over that stretch. Prospect Richard Urena will draw the start at shortstop in his place, batting ninth.

Goins will start at second base and bat seventh Sunday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Goins has struggled, going 5-for-31 (.161) with nine strikeouts, since losing a nine-game hitting streak on Aug. 10. Although he's playing often, the infielder's .214/.266/.327 doesn't offer much fantasy appeal under any format.

Goins is not in the lineup against the Cubs on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Goins will get the day off after starting the past two games following a forearm injury during Wednesday's contest. There hasn't appeared to be any indication that his forearm was bothering the infielder in any capacity -- tests revealed no structural damage -- but manager John Gibbons will give him a day off for Saturday's matinee. In his place, Darwin Barney slides over to short while Rob Refsnyder gets a start at second.

Goins (forearm) will not miss any time after exiting Wednesday's contest, remaining in the lineup for the series finale against Tampa Bay on Thursday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Goins will start at shortstop and bat eighth just a day after getting spiked in his left forearm while attempting to steal a base during the sixth inning of Wednesday's game. His X-rays didn't reveal any structural damage, and manager John Gibbons elects to keep Goins in the lineup for the divisional contest.
