Wick is a virtual lock to be a part of the Cubs' bullpen whenever the 2020 season is able to begin, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wick started the 2019 season in the minors and spent about half of the year there, but he was great when he got a chance in the majors, posting a 2.43 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 35 strikeouts across 33.1 innings. That performance solidified the 27-year-old's roll heading into 2020, and he should operate as a high-leverage option who could displace Craig Kimbrel as the team's closer if the latter's struggles continue this season.

Wick pitched the ninth inning in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and a walk. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Wick came on in a non-save situation, though it is telling that the Cubs turned to the righty to close out a fairly close game as they battle for a playoff spot. While the 26-year-old allowed a run in this one, he still owns a strong 2.79 ERA for the season, and he could get save opportunities with Craig Kimbrel (elbow) on the injured list.

Wick could get save opportunities after Craig Kimbrel was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with right elbow inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Maddon did not name a replacement for Kimbrel in the ninth, telling Jordan Bastian of MLB.com that the Cubs will mix and match in the later innings rather than go with one set closer. Wick has gotten the last two chances when Kimbrel was unavailable; Wick got his first career save Aug. 17 before Kimbrel returned from a knee injury, and his second Aug. 22 after Kimbrel had pitched three of the last four days. He seems like the top right-handed candidate over veterans Steve Cishek, Pedro Strop and Brandon Kintzler. Kyle Ryan, Brad Wieck or Derek Holland could get the opportunity when the matchups call for a lefty.

Wick recorded the final two outs of Thursday's win over the Giants for his second save of the season. He struck out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
Craig Kimbrel was unavailable after pitching back-to-back days and three of the last four, so manager Joe Maddon turned to Wick for the save chance, as he did Aug. 17 before Kimbrel's return from the injured list. Wick only made one big-league appearance before June 21, but he's carved out a key role in the Cubs' bullpen by posting a 1.46 ERA and 16:3 K:BB in 12.1 innings since the All-Star break. The underlying numbers support what he's done for the most part, and with his recent usage, Wick has seemingly leapfrogged Pedro Strop and Steve Cishek in the pecking order.

Wick pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his first major league save in a 2-0 victory against the Pirates on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs turned to Wick after Tyler Chatwood walked the first batter of the frame, and he was impressive, going through Friday night's Pirate hero, Kevin Newman, and NL batting title contender Bryan Reynolds, to retire the side. With the Cubs bullpen dealing with multiple injuries, don't rule out Wick seeing more save opportunities. He owns a 2.55 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 17.2 innings across 16 appearances this season.

Wick was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Wick struggled in his last major-league outing, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk over two innings July 1 against the Pirates. However, he's set to get another shot out of Chicago's bullpen. Carl Edwards Jr. was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Wick was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wick was sent back to the minors last weekend, but he will be allowed to return before the minimum 10 days because he will take the roster spot of Cole Hamels (oblique), who landed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Wick figures to be used in low-leverage spots like he was in his previous two stints with the big club.

EDGE Analysis

Wick was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
