Scott has allowed five hits and four walks while striking out four in six scoreless innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The second lefty in the bullpen comes down to Scott and Fernando Abad, who is currently away from camp competing in the World Baseball Classic for Team Dominican Republic. Scott was dominant at Triple-A Pawtucket and effective in a brief September cameo for Boston last season, but Abad's experience, particularly his track record against left-handed hitters, is seen as a plus. However, Abad's $2 million salary is not guaranteed unless he makes the roster out of spring training. If the Red Sox feel Scott can provide similar results at a cheaper rate, he could emerge with a roster spot Opening Day.

Scott pitched a scoreless third of an inning in Wednesday night's win over the Orioles. He struck out Chris Davis on three pitches before allowing an infield hit to Mark Trumbo.
EDGE Analysis
Scott has not allowed a run in five innings (five Ks, one BB, four hits) since being part of Boston's roster expansion this month. The former independent league pitcher has earned the trust of manager John Farrell as evidenced by the manager having him face two of Baltimore's more dangerous hitters Wednesday. The left-handed Scott is positioning himself to be a late-inning southpaw for the postseason if Boston qualifies for the playoffs.

Scott was officially called up by the Red Sox on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was dominant against same-handed hitters during his time with Triple-A Pawtucket this season, holding lefties to a combined .147 average, and he may be used to pick up some big outs down the stretch. Robbie Ross and Fernando Abad are the only other lefties currently in the Boston bullpen.

Scott will be called up from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday and join the Red Sox in Oakland, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Scott has been outstanding for the PawSox, particularly against left-handed batters, against whom he's limited to a .147 average, .206 on-base percentage and .253 slugging percentage. He'll probably work as a lefty specialist, but can also provide some length, having made six spot starts.
