Grossman is in the designated hitter spot and batting second for the Rangers on Friday versus the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman previously hasn't batted any higher than fifth. He's sporting just a .515 OPS on the season but does have a modest three-game hitting streak going.

Grossman will sit Wednesday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman will get a breather after he went 3-for-10 with a walk, an RBI and four runs scored over the last three contests. Ezequiel Duran will replace him at designated hitter and bat seventh in the series finale with Kansas City.

Grossman isn't in the Rangers' lineup for Friday's game against Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Currently in the middle of an 0-for-16 streak at the plate, Grossman will get the day off Friday. Brad Miller will instead serve as Texas' designated hitter and bat seventh.

Grossman served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a run scored in Monday's 11-2 win over Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman, who was given a day off Sunday amid a slump, continued to slide Monday. The outfielder has one hit over his last 22 at-bats and is in danger of losing a regular role for a couple of reasons. First, Leody Taveras (oblique) began a rehab assignment and could rejoin the club this week. Second, Bubba Thompson and Travis Jankowski, batting eighth and ninth, have sparked the Rangers' offense the last two games. The spring plans to have Grossman be the primary left fielder (when Taveras is healthy) could be pared back to a job share.

Grossman started in right field went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Thursday's 11-7 win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman's three-run shot was part of the Rangers' nine-run fourth inning and tied the game after Texas had fallen behind 5-0. The switch hitter launched it from the left side, which is supposed to be his weaker side. Grossman is expected to serve as the team's primary left fielder -- he moved there later in the game -- but center fielder Leody Taveras' oblique injury may upset lineup plans early on. Adolis Garcia started in center while Josh Smith manned left field.

Grossman worked on his swing from the left side of the plate during the offseason, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The switch-hitting Grossman's history suggested he was an ideal candidate to platoon in left field. That history was reinforced last season when he hit .320/.436/.443 against left-handed pitching and .163/.253/.256 against righties. He understood a change was needed if he wanted to play every day and worked with hitting coach Tim Hyers to minimize an exaggerated leg kick against right-handers. In the minimal sample size that is spring training, Grossman is 8-for-26 (.308) with a .900 OPS against the righties, and he's been even better against lefties. That work has earned him the everyday job in left field.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed that Grossman will be the primary left fielder to open the season for the Rangers, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not a huge surprise, but it's worth noting. Grossman was signed to a one-year deal in the offseason, and the switch-hitting outfielder has been excellent in the Cactus League with a 1.167 OPS and two homers over his first 38 plate appearances. With Grossman the everyday option in left, Brad Miller will likely rotate at designated hitter with Jonah Heim and Mitch Garver while also occasionally spelling Grossman in left.

Grossman went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run during Friday's spring game against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman took Kansas City starter Daniel Lynch deep on a ball up in the zone. With a lefty throwing for the Royals, the switch-hitting Grossman got the start in left field. He mashed southpaws in 2022 (.320/.436/.443) but was less productive against righties. As such, Grossman's in a position for a possible platoon in left field. Texas manager Bruce Bochy noted earlier this spring that he's open to a platoon in left, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Grossman agreed to a contract with the Rangers on Friday evening, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
ESPN's Buster Olney reported Friday morning that Grossman was in talks with Texas, and now there is a deal in place. Joel Sherman of the New York Post has it as a one-year, $2 million pact with another $3 million available in performance bonuses. The 33-year-old immediately jumps to the top of a long list of left-field options for the Rangers, even after slumping to a .209/.310/.311 slash line in 129 games (477 plate appearances) last season between Detroit and Atlanta -- Grossman posted a .772 OPS with 23 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 156 games for the Tigers in 2021. He's a switch-hitter but tends to fare better against left-handed pitching, so he could ultimately platoon with Josh Smith, Brad Miller or Bubba Thompson, all of whom were better against righties than Grossman last season.

Grossman isn't starting Tuesday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman -- batting .207 in September -- will get another day to stretch his legs Tuesday. While he watches from the dugout, Eddie Rosario will fill in for him in left field and bat seventh.
