Grossman will hit the bench against lefty Wade Miley and the Astros on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Athletics have faced a lefty-heavy slate so far this season, and Grossman has gotten the call against just one of the seven they've seen. Mark Canha starts in left field Saturday.

Grossman is out of Monday's starting lineup against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman will sit for the second straight game against a left-handed pitcher, as David Price (illness) is expected to make his season debut. Chad Pinder gets the call in left field and will bat sixth in Grossman's absence.

Grossman is not starting Sunday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman takes a seat with lefty Tyler Skaggs on the mound for Los Angeles. He's been in a strict platoon with Chad Pinder at the position so far, with Grossman starting against all three righties and Pinder getting the call against all three lefties.

Grossman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run in a shutout win over the Angels on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman made good use of his first regular-season start in an Athletics uniform, setting the table with a pair of singles and logging his first steal as well. The veteran outfielder is expected to take a seat on the majority of occasions when Oakland faces a left-handed starter, but he still projects for plenty of playing time in both left field and as an occasional designated hitter.

Grossman will start in left field and bat leadoff in Thursday's game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman was on the bench for both of the Athletics' first two games of the regular season last week against the Mariners, but that was largely due to the fact Seattle used two lefty starters (Marco Gonzales and Yusei Kikuchi) for the Tokyo contests. With righty Trevor Cahill on the bump for the Angels, Grossman will enter the lineup for the first time and could find himself atop the order regularly when the Athletics face right-handers. Grossman's ability to draw walks at a high rate makes him a good fit in the leadoff role, but his lack of power or speed and career .256 batting average makes him a less interesting commodity in the fantasy realm.

Grossman went 1-for-3 with a two-run single in a 12-11 Cactus League win over the Cubs on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman doubled up his spring RBI total with his timely sixth-inning hit. The 29-year-old has been serviceable at the plate thus far, hitting .265 over 34 spring at-bats. Looking ahead to the regular season, Grossman projects to at least open the season in left field given Nick Martini's knee injury, and a strong start could certainly buy him some time with the role.

Grossman is a candidate to see time as the Athletics' leadoff hitter this season, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman's on-base skills certainly pass the sniff test for a leadoff hitter, as he posted an OBP north of .360 the past three seasons. Batting ahead of players like Matt Chapman, Matt Olson and Khris Davis would help boost Grossman's stock a bit, as well. However, there's a chance that Grossman ends up in a platoon in the outfield with either Nick Martini or Dustin Fowler, which could offset the gains of batting leadoff. Grossman's role will likely become clearer over the curse of spring training.

Grossman signed a one-year contract with the Athletics on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old had a solid but unspectacular season with the Twins last season, slashing .273/.367/.384 with five homers and 48 RBI. Grossman will add a veteran presence to a young Oakland outfield, as well as a strong ability to hit left-handed pitching (.859 OPS against southpaws since 2016). Given the latter statistic, he seems like a good platoon candidate with players like Nick Martini and Dustin Fowler, though Grossman's role will likely become clearer as the 25-man roster takes shape this spring.

Grossman was not tendered a contract by Minnesota for the 2019 season.
EDGE Analysis
Grossman will become a free agent after spending the last three seasons with the Twins. He slashed .273/.367/.384 over 129 games in 2018 and figures to find work elsewhere as a starting outfielder.
