Rockies assistant general manager of player development Zach Wilson announced Tuesday that Pint is retiring from baseball, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Colorado selected Pint with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 draft, but the right-hander's continuous battle through injuries and command issues has now led him to step away from the game. Pint reached his highest level of the minors this season, posting a 3.38 ERA with 17 strikeouts across 10.2 innings with High-A Spokane.

Pint (forearm tightness) is on the 7-day disabled list with Low-A Asheville.
EDGE Analysis
Charlie Drysdale of SB Nation reports that Pint remained with the Tourists, even after being evaluated by doctors, so it's possible that he will be able to return to the mound after a couple weeks of rest and treatment. That said, Pint's high-end velocity makes him a prime candidate to eventually need Tommy John surgery, so that's got to be in the minds of his dynasty-league owners right now.

Pint left his start for Low-A Asheville on Sunday with an arm injury, MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pint gave up five runs (three earned) in his opening start of the season. He left with the team's trainer after recording just one out and has been diagnosed with a forearm injury. A "forearm injury" is often the vague diagnosis that precedes a much more serious issue, though there hasn't yet been word on the severity of this particular injury. Pint's big arm made him the fourth-overall pick in the 2016 draft, though he's yet to put things together as a professional, with a 5.59 ERA through 130.1 minor-league innings.

Pint, 19, has a 4.45 ERA and 47:36 K:BB through 56.2 innings at Low-A Asheville.
EDGE Analysis
Pint is keeping the ball down and in the ballpark, but is issuing far too many walks, resulting in his fairly high ERA at this level. He has walked at least three batters in five of the last 10 starts. Pint still has huge upside but remains a work in progress, largely due to these command/control concerns.

Pint, 19, has a 3.07 ERA and 10:12 K:BB through 14.2 innings for Low-A Asheville.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies are certainly going to be cautious with their prized pitching phenom, as Pint has struggled to locate his pitches during the early portion of his professional career. He will likely be on a strict innings limit in 2017, and though he remains an elite pitching prospect, Pint won't see the majors for at least a few years.
