Detmers registered a no-decision during Sunday's 5-2 loss to Texas, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts in seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Detmers had his best stuff working Sunday, posting a season-high 12 strikeouts, recording an immaculate inning in the second and notching his second-best game score of the season at 74. The only thing missing was a win as a defensive miscue let the tying run cross the plate in the fifth and Los Angeles was unable to capitalize on nearly twice as many hits as Texas. The 23-year-old induced an astounding 24 swinging strikes on 105 pitches en route to the 12 strikeouts and concludes an impressive July with a 1.13 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 24 innings across four turns. He'll look to stay rolling next weekend with a road start in Seattle on tap.

Detmers (3-3) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out six in five scoreless innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Detmers was unable to record a third consecutive quality start Sunday since he required 90 pitches to get through five innings, but he still had a strong performance to earn his first win since May 10. The southpaw has been effective over three starts this month, posting a 1.06 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 17 innings. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Rangers on Saturday.

Detmers allowed two runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Detmers wasn't as dominant as he was versus the Orioles last Friday, but he still turned in his second straight quality start and his third such effort of the season. The 23-year-old southpaw limited the damage Thursday to the first inning, allowing four baserunners and both runs in the opening frame before settling in. He now has a 4.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB across 70 innings in 14 starts this season. He won't pitch again until after the All-Star break, but his recent performance makes it seem likely he'll be in the rotation when play resumes, especially if the Angels go back to rolling six starters.

Detmers is listed as the Angels' scheduled starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Astros in Anaheim.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels' decision to keep Detmers in the rotation for a second straight turn comes as little surprise after the team optioned fellow starter Chase Silseth to Double-A Rocket City over the weekend. With the Angels shortening their rotation to five men this week ahead of the All-Star break, Detmers was able to stick with the big club over Silseth after he struck out seven over six scoreless innings in Baltimore last Friday. Detmers owns a pedestrian 19.8 percent strikeout rate in the majors this season, but he's recaptured his swing-and-miss stuff over his past two outings between the Angels and Triple-A Salt Lake, racking up 21 punchouts over 12 frames.

Detmers allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven in six scoreless innings during Friday's loss to the Orioles. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander stepped in as a starter Friday after Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) was placed on the injured list, and Detmers was sharp in his return to the major-league mound. He posted a career-high seven strikeouts and left the game with the Angels holding a three-run lead, but he was forced to settle for a no-decision since the bullpen was unable to preserve the advantage. If he draws another start prior to the All-Star break, he tentatively lines up to take the mound at home against the Dodgers next Friday.

Detmers was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Friday's contest against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Detmers will be on the mound Friday night against the Orioles, returning to the majors after making one start at Triple-A. The left-hander struggled in his two starts prior to being sent down, surrendering nine runs over 8.2 frames while allowing four home runs. He will look to return to the form he had in his prior two outings, a stretch where tossed 8.2 scoreless innings, when he toes the rubber Friday night which also happens to be his 23rd birthday.

Detmers is listed as the Angels' starting pitcher for Friday's game in Baltimore and will be formally recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to the contest.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Detmers will step back into the Anaheim rotation as a replacement for Michael Lorenzen (shoulder), who was moved to the 15-day injured list. Though he earned a spot in the Angels' Opening Day rotation and delivered a solid 1.10 WHIP among his first 12 starts of the season while also tossing a no-hitter against the Rays on May 10, Detmers was prone to the long ball (1.71 HR/9) and turned in a weak 18.6 percent strikeout rate. The lack of punchouts were a surprise for a pitcher who had been one of the minors' most prolific strikeout artists in 2021, but Detmers could re-emerge as an asset in that category as he makes his return from Triple-A. In his lone start with Salt Lake after being optioned June 22, Detmers struck out 14 over six innings. According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Detmers worked with the Angels' minor-league pitching coordinator to tweak his slider, and the 23-year-old southpaw believes the success he found in his lone minor-league outing will set him up for success as he rejoins the big club.

Detmers will likely start Friday's game against the Orioles, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels need somebody to fill a rotation spot for Friday's matchup in Baltimore after Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list, and Detmers will likely rejoin the active roster after being sent down in late June. He allowed just one run on three hits and a walk while striking out 14 in six innings during a start at Triple-A Salt Lake on June 29, and he'll be pitching on full rest if he ultimately takes the mound for the Angels on Friday.

Detmers was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detmers surrendered five runs across five innings Tuesday against the Royals, which was apparently the final straw before losing his spot in the rotation and on the big-league roster. The 22-year-old delivered a no-hitter May 10 against the Rays but otherwise failed to produce a quality start. Overall Detmers has a 4.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB over 58 innings this season, and he could receive another look in the majors later in the summer if he's able to get back on track with Salt Lake.

Detmers allowed five runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Detmers gave up runs in three of the five innings he worked, but the Angels' offense was able to bail him out later in the contest. It was the first time he's completed five innings since May 25. The southpaw is still struggling a bit with a 4.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB across 58 innings in 12 starts this year. As long as the Angels stick with a six-man rotation, Detmers will likely continue to draw starts. He's tentatively projected for a home start versus the White Sox next week.
