Detmers is projected for a road start at Tampa Bay next week.

All of the damage against Detmers came in the third, when he gave up singles to Jorge Mateo, Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle as part of a two-run inning. However, he was able to pick up a quality start -- his second in his last 10 appearances -- and walked only one batter for the first time since mid-July. The southpaw has quietly strung together a handful of impressive starts, owning a 3.13 ERA across his last 23 innings (four starts). He's slated for a trip to Seattle to take on the Mariners in his next appearance.

Detmers did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings against the Phillies. He struck out three.

EDGE Analysis

Detmers struggled with his command from the start, beaning a batter in each of the first two innings before allowing two runs to come across for Philadelphia. The lefty needed 33 pitches to get through the second frame and failed to make it through five innings for the third time in his last six starts. He's also issued three or more walks in three of his last four outings and has given up at least two free passes in eight straight, going 1-4 over that stretch.

Detmers (3-10) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings, taking the loss in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Reds.

Detmers couldn't carry over any momentum from his dominant outing versus the Rangers last week. He instead gave up four runs -- he's allowed at least that many in five of his last eight starts. The southpaw now has a 5.03 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 139:50 K:BB through 120 innings across 23 starts this season. Detmers is projected for a road start in Philadelphia next week.

Detmers (2-9) took the loss Friday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.1 innings against Houston. He struck out zero.

EDGE Analysis

The Astros' Jon Singleton had not hit a big-league home run since 2015 but knocked out two against Detmers, who was pulled following Singleton's third-inning blast. A rough July has turned into a full-on disastrous August for Detmers who has now allowed 14 earned runs in 6.1 August innings. This also marks the first career appearance in which he failed to record a strikeout. Unless the Angels decide to go in a different direction, Detmers will next attempt to right the ship in a mid-week matchup against Texas in Arlington.

Detmers (2-8) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in a 6-1 loss to the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Detmers was able to pitch his way out of a few jams until the bottom of the fifth, when he walked Alejandro Kirk to open the inning before surrendering a two-run blast to Santiago Espinal. The lefty would retire the next two batters before being relieved by Reynaldo Lopez but still went on to suffer his third straight loss (spanning four starts). Detmers has allowed at least two runs in all five of his starts this month while failing to make it through five innings in two of those outings.

Detmers turned in a fine performance, but the Angels couldn't generate any runs. He's projected for a challenging first matchup out of the All-Star break -- he'll either take the mound versus the Astros or the Yankees, though either potential outcome would be at home in Anaheim.
