Olson did not factor into the decision Tuesday despite allowing just three hits over eight scoreless innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
While Olson was spectacular Tuesday, he was matched on the other side by Ryan Weathers, who also delivered eight scoreless frames in an eventual 1-0 Marlins win in 10 innings. Olson has held opponents to one run or fewer in four straight starts and five of his last six outings. His ERA is down to 2.09 on the year with a 0.99 WHIP and 41:15 K:BB across 47.1 innings. Still, Olson's been incredibly unlucky to open his sophomore campaign, as he's yet to earn a win through eight starts. He'll hope for more support in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week in Kansas City.

Olson did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Guardians, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
It was another excellent outing from Olson, though he was ultimately stuck with the no-decision despite allowing just one hit, as the Tigers' bullpen couldn't protect a 4-2 lead. Olson is 0-4 on the year despite holding opponents to one earned run or fewer in five of his seven starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.52 with a 1.12 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB across 39.1 innings. Olson will look for better luck in his next turn in the rotation, currently scheduled for early next week against Miami.

Olson tossed five scoreless innings but did not factor into the decision in Friday's game against the Yankees. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Olson was sharp against a strong New York lineup, but the Tigers couldn't provide enough run support in the eventual 2-1 loss. Olson has been dialed in over his last four starts, compiling a 1.54 ERA and striking out 25 batters across 23.1 innings, but he has an 0-3 record to show for it. The strong run has at least lowered his season ERA to a tidy 2.70. The righty will look to keep pitching well and hopefully get a bit more run support in his next appearance, which is tentatively set for Wednesday against the Guardians.

Olson (0-4) took the loss Friday against the Royals after he allowed one run on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander allowed a run on two hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly during the third inning but otherwise kept Kansas City off the board. It wasn't enough to prevent Olson's fourth straight loss, however, as Detroit was shut out for the third time this season. Despite the ugly record, the 24-year-old has a strong 3.18 ERA through five starts, though a 1.31 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB aren't quite as attractive.

Olson (0-3) was charged with four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings in a losing effort against the Twins on Saturday. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Olson fanned two in a scoreless first inning, but the Twins then got to him for runs in the second, third and fifth frames. Only two of the runs were earned, and Olson continues to show flashes with his changeup and breaking pitches, but his fastball has been too hittable and the results remain inconsistent. The 24-year-old will take a 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB over 21.1 innings into his next start, projected for next weekend at home against the Royals.

Olson (0-2) allowed just one run on six hits across 6.1 innings but took the loss Monday against the Rangers. He walked one and struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Olson was sharp but Michael Lorenzen and three Texas relievers were better, blanking the Tigers for a 1-0 victory. For Olson, it was at least a step in the right direction after allowing six runs over 4.1 innings in his last start. Outside of that rough outing, the righty has allowed just one earned run across 12 innings this season, giving him a solid 3.86 ERA overall. He had a 3.99 ERA over 103.2 innings as a rookie last year, so he may be able to sustain his current form. Olson will look to carry some momentum into his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Saturday against the Twins.

Olson (0-1) took the loss Monday, allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against Pittsburgh. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
After opening the season with 5.2 shutout innings against the Mets, Olson looked significantly less sharp Monday against the Pirates, allowing a career-high nine hits. Most disappointingly, the 24-year-old tallied only three strikeouts for his second straight outing, well below his 8.9 K/9 in 103.2 innings last year. Olson is slated to make his next start at home against the Twins.

Olson tossed 5.2 scoreless innings but did not factor into the decision in Monday's 10-inning win over the Mets. He allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Olson was sharp across his 93 pitches but so was New York starter Sean Manaea, and the two teams entered extra innings tied 0-0 before Detroit exploded for five runs. Despite not picking up a win it's still a promising 2024 debut for Olson, who had some nice moments as a rookie last year, compiling a 3.99 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 21 appearances (18 starts). The righty appears to be locked into a rotation spot and has a favorable matchup in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for Sunday against the Athletics.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch announced Friday that Olson will be a member of the club's season-opening rotation, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Olson posted a 4.12 ERA over 107 innings as a rookie last season and cemented his rotation spot during spring training with a 3.68 ERA and 14:4 K:BB in 14.2 frames. Tarik Skubal, Kenta Maeda and Jack Flaherty are set to start in the three-game, season-opening series against the White Sox, lining up Olson to pitch April 1 or 2 versus the Mets.

Olson tossed three scoreless innings in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta. He allowed two hits and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Olson pitched well against an Atlanta lineup that featured a few of the team's regulars. The young righty came into the contest having allowed four runs across his first 3.2 innings this spring. Olson is locked into a battle for one of Detroit's final rotation spots, with Matt Manning and Alex Faedo presumably in the mix as well.
