Read was returned to the Nationals' minor league camp Monday, The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being added to the 40-man roster this offseason following a solid but not spectacular 2016 campaign for High-A Potomac, Read will get his first crack at the Double-A level this year. Further improvement, both at the plate and behind it, could put him in line to make his big league debut sometime in 2018, but he only profiles as a backup option at catcher down the road.

EDGE Analysis
He was essentially a league average hitter at High-A last year (102 wRC+). Read provides the Nationals with organizational catching depth, but as a 23-year-old catcher who has no experience in the upper levels of the minors and lacks an above average offensive tool, he is unappealing for dynasty league purposes.
