Delcarmen was released Sunday from his minor-league contract with the Nationals. Delcarmen owned a 8.14 ERA and 2.09 WHIP over 21 innings in relief for Triple-A Syracuse this season. Expect the 33-year-old's interest from other organizations to be very tepid as he becomes a free agent.

Delcarmen re-signed with the Nationals on a minor league contract Monday, William Ladson of MLB.com reports. Delcarmen spent last season with Triple-A Syracuse, posting a 3.13 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 4-4 record while converting four saves for the clubs and pitching 60.1 innings. He will receive another invite to spring training with the Nationals, but barring an excellent performance, is likely destined for Triple-A again.

Manny Delcarmen has a June 1 opt-out clause. He's healthy and throwing 93 mph, giving Washington some hope that they can extract value from this minor league signing. "Going through injuries is never fun, knowing that I still got it but these injuries held me back," Delcarmen said. "I feel like a little kid in the minors again, trying to get back to the big leagues." Delcarmen has eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings this spring.
