The Rockies and Lambert avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.25 million contract Thursday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Lambert gave up one run through three innings before the Diamondbacks plated three runs in the fourth. Entering Monday, he had a streak of four straight outings with three or fewer runs allowed. Lambert saw his season ERA climb back to 5.03 while being handed a second consecutive loss. He's currently expected to face the Cubs at home next week.

Lambert (3-5) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on nine hits over five innings against Atlanta. He struck out two.

Though Lambert fell to his fifth loss of the campaign, he surrendered just three runs, notching his fourth straight start with three runs or fewer allowed. However, he was tagged by Marcell Ozuna for a solo home run in the second inning to mark Lambert's fifth consecutive outing giving up a long ball. Over his last four appearances (23 innings), Lambert owns a 3.52 ERA to go along with a 17:3 K:BB. He's tentatively lined up to take on the Diamondbacks in Arizona for his next start.

Lambert did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over five innings against the Rays. He struck out six.

Lambert got taken deep by Luke Raley on a hanging four-seamer to lead off the bottom of the second and was again victimized by the outfielder in the fourth, this time on a triple, before the latter came around to score a second time. Those would be the only two runs allowed by Lambert on the afternoon as he made it through at least five innings for the third consecutive start. The right-hander has allowed at least one home run in each of his last four starts and now carries a 5.19 ERA in August. On a positive note, he's issued just one walk in each of his last three outings, striking out 15 over that stretch.

Lambert served up a leadoff homer to Elvis Andrus in the first inning but settled in for an impressive outing. It was Lambert's longest outing of the year and his first time punching out at least five batters since May 13. He lowered his season ERA to 5.02 with a 56:24 K:BB through 66.1 frames. Lambert is currently lined up to start in Tampa Bay next week.

Given the quality of the opponent and the fact he gave up all three runs over the first two innings, Lambert was lucky to emerge with a quality start, his second of the season. The right-hander has compiled a 5.46 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 51:23 K:BB through 59.1 innings over 20 appearances (six starts). He was shaky in his first two outings of August and remains a risky option in fantasy given his home park, where he's expected to make his next start versus the lowly White Sox.

Lambert (2-3) allowed five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings to take the loss Monday versus the Brewers.

EDGE Analysis

Lambert held his own over the first three innings, but it all fell apart in the fourth. He's given up nine runs over his last eight innings while taking a pair of losses in his last two starts. The right-hander has a 5.57 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 47:22 K:BB through 53.1 innings over 19 appearances (five starts) this season. Lambert remains in the rotation despite his poor performance since the Rockies have no better options available. He's projected to face the Dodgers on the road this weekend.
