Alonso went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Following a dreadful July that saw him post a .548 OPS over 85 at-bats, Alonso is quickly embarking on an early power surge to open August. The All-Star first baseman has three long balls in four outings so far this month, and Monday marked his seventh game of the year with at least four RBI. The four hits also established a new season high for Alonso.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a double Saturday in a 12-6 victory versus the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso set the tone for a big offensive night for the Mets when he cranked a three-run blast to center field in the first inning. The All-Star slugger has gone deep in each of his past two games following a rough 1-for-23, six-game stretch at the plate. Alonso is up to 24 homers on the season as he seeks another campaign with at least 30 long balls -- the only time he hasn't reached that mark in his career was during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

Alonso went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso got the Mets on the board with a 414-foot blast in the seventh inning and then tied the game in the eighth with a sacrifice fly. It was a much-need effort from the 30-year-old, as he'd gone just 1-for-23 since last homering July 23. For the year, he's slashing .260/.352/.498 with 23 long balls, 83 RBI, 55 runs scored and a stolen base across 475 plate appearances.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Mired in a 2-for-33 slump over the prior 10 games, Alonso broke out by taking Jake Eder deep in the third inning before adding a single in the seventh. The slugging first baseman is up to 22 homers and 80 RBI on the season, with the latter number sitting third in the National League behind Arizona's Eugenio Suarez (86) and the Cubs' Seiya Suzuki (81).

Alonso (hand) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso didn't start in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Reds after being hit on the right hand by a pitch Saturday. However, he was able to enter Sunday's contest as a defensive replacement and is back in the Mets lineup for Monday's series opener.

Alonso (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup Monday against the Angels, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The first baseman entered Sunday's win over the Reds in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement for Mark Vientos to keep his club-record consecutive games streak alive, and Alonso's hand contusion was never viewed by the Mets as a serious concern. The brief time off may end up doing the slugger some good, however -- through 62 plate appearances in July, Alonso's slashing just .176/.306/.392, although he does have three homers and 12 RBI.

Alonso has been diagnosed with a right hand contusion near the base of his thumb, explaining his absence from the starting lineup Sunday versus Cincinnati, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Importantly, X-rays on Alonso's hand came back negative, and he may be available to pinch hit. The slugger would need to do so in order to extend his franchise-record streak of 353 consecutive regular-season games played. It doesn't sound like the Mets are concerned that Alonso is dealing with a significant injury, so an IL stint doesn't seem likely.

Alonso is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's tilt versus Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
This is a very rare day off for Alonso -- the last time he wasn't included in a Mets starting lineup was May 30, 2024, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The All-Star first baseman has also appeared in a franchise-record 353 straight regular-season contests, so he'd need to get into the game at some point Sunday to extend that streak. It's not yet certain why Alonso isn't starting, but he's been slumping of late, going 2-for-25 with eight strikeouts over his previous seven games. Mark Vientos is starting at first base for New York in the series finale against the Reds.

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three total runs and five total RBI in a 12-6 win against the Yankees on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso cleared the fence with a two-run shot in the fifth inning and added a three-run blast in the seventh. The pair of long balls pushed the powerful first baseman up to 20 homers on the year -- he's now reached that mark in each of his major-league campaigns aside from the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Alonso had been seemingly due for a power display, as he entered Saturday with just one home run over his previous 23 games.

Alonso went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 4-0 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Alonso's bat has been a little quiet lately -- he's 11-for-38 (.289) with just two extra-base hits and two RBI, as well as a 2:16 BB:K over his last 10 games. This was his third multi-hit effort in that span. The first baseman is at a .292/.384/.549 slash line with 18 home runs, 23 doubles, 65 RBI, 46 runs scored and no stolen bases across 82 contests. Alonso has hit for a high average all year without sacrificing too much power, so a little regression was to be expected at some point, but he's managed it gracefully so far.
