Strop (calf) was sent home due to an illness, Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop has been working his way back from a sore calf but that will have to be put on hold while he recovers from flu-like symptoms. Expect the right-hander back in camp by early next week.

Strop (calf) is throwing a bullpen session Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop has battled a sore calf all spring and has yet to make his spring debut. If his bullpen session goes well, he could make an appearance this weekend. He should have enough time to get up to full speed by Opening Day and resume his role as the Cubs' setup man.

Manager Joe Maddon said Strop (calf) is "getting close" to making his spring training debut, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop has yet to appear in a game this spring due to a sore left calf, but it appears to be a minor issue that won't affect his availability for the regular season. There was some thought that Strop could ascend to the closer's role this season when the Cubs let Wade Davis walk in free agency, but newcomer Brandon Morrow is expected to hold down the ninth, meaning Strop will stick in his customary setup role for now.

Strop is battling a sore left calf and will not throw off the mound Thursday, Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strop's injury isn't considered to be anything serious but the Cubs aren't going to take any chances with the right-hander. He may be kept off the mound for a couple days in order to ensure no further setback but he will toss off flat ground prior Thursday's Cactus League game against Colorado.

Strop pitched a perfect seventh inning with a strikeout in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Rays to record his 20th hold of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Strop has his ERA under 3.00 and his 20 holds rank 11th in the National League. He remains a vital member of the Cubs bullpen, though he's behind Wade Davis, and possibly Carl Edwards and Justin Wilson, in the saves pecking order.

Strop (5-4) picked up the win in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He pitched a scoreless seventh inning while allowing a hit and a walk, and striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Strop didn't start the inning off well, as he walked the leadoff hitter and then gave up a one-out single to put runners on first and second. But he avoided trouble by forcing the next two St. Louis hitters to ground out. Strop now has a strong 3.04 ERA and 1.19 WHIP as he remains a key member of the Chicago bullpen.

Strop (4-4) picked up the win in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over the Pirates. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning with a walk and a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
After Jose Quintana and Hector Rondon blanked the Pirates through seven innings, Strop followed suit in the eighth. He then picked up the win when the Cubs broke up the scoreless tie in the top of the ninth. Strop should continue working in high-leverage situations for Chicago the rest of the way.

Strop (3-4) blew his third save of the year and took the loss Thursday against the Reds. He gave up three earned runs on three hits and two walks in an inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
This is the second time in the last three games that Strop has given up three earned runs. The 32-year-old still has a respectable 3.44 ERA, and he posted sub-3.00 ERAs each of the last three years for the Cubs, so he's built up some equity in the bullpen. However, his walk rate is back up 3.8 per nine (the same mark he posted in 2015) after he had cut it to 2.9 last season. Strop's propensity to give up walks makes him an occasionally volatile option, despite his electric stuff.

Strop (3-3) was tagged with the loss in Tuesday's game against the Reds. He allowed one earned run on a hit and a walk over an inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
Strop entered a 0-0 game in the top of the eighth inning. After retiring the first hitter, he promptly walked Joey Votto and then gave up a single, which moved Votto to third. Votto would score on a Scooter Gennett sacrifice fly. Despite the hiccup, Strop still has a strong 2.51 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, to go along with 50 strikeouts in 46.2 innings of work.

Strop (3-2) recorded a win in Wednesday's game against the Rays. He pitched a scoreless inning with no hits or walks, and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Since a blowup on June 10 (three earned runs in a third of an inning), Strop has been very solid for the Cubs. In his last 11 appearances (10 innings pitched), he has a 1.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 14 strikeouts. Strop should continue to be a key bullpen contributor for the Cubs, but his fantasy value will remain limited in standard leagues without save opportunities.
