Pedro Strop Still Quietly One of Baseball's Most Consistent Relievers rotoballer.com Mon 2/18/19 11:21 AM
Pedro Strop is coming off of another terrific season for the Cubs, posting a 2.26 ERA over 59.2 innings while collecting 13 saves, a career high. He'll turn 34 during the 2019 season, but there is no real reason to expect any age-related regression. Instead, I'd point out his career-high 4.08 xFIP from 2018. Between a .222 BABIP and a career-high 83.9% LOB, we can infer that Strop got fairly lucky last season. However, he'll continue to be used in high-leverage situations, and should be a decen[...]
Relief Pitcher - Early Points League Rankings and Tiers rotoballer.com Tue 2/5/19 6:30 AM
Its never too early to start looking toward the fantasy baseball season, and Im here to continue RotoBallers position-by-position rankings analysis series for points league and head-to-head (H2H) formats with the ever-volatile relief pitcher position. The "closer carousel" seems to spin faster and faster every year, and there are very few names in the 'set it and forget it' category. [...]
2019 Bullpen Outlooks - National League Central rotoballer.com Thu 1/17/19 8:30 AM
Now that the National League East and all their moves have been covered, it's time to look at the NL Central and discuss the lack of movement in that division.Several teams in the NL Central could benefit from strengthening their relief corps, yet only one team has made any noise in free agency or the trade market so far. There are still several talented late-inning pitchers available as free agents though, so with still about a month until spring training begins, the NL Central bullpens are cer[...]
2019 Relief Pitchers - Early Fantasy Baseball Tiered Rankings rotoballer.com Mon 1/14/19 7:00 AM
A tough position to evaluate is that of relief pitchers, as a lot of success for closers comes from success from teams. There are also a lot of bullpens by committee these days, further stifling the value of closers. That being said, only four of the pitchers that ranked in the top-10 in saves in 2017 followed up in 2018. One of those pitchers had a huge jump in saves, but [...]

Cubs Pick Up Pedro Strop's Option rotoballer.com Thu 11/1/18 5:51 PM
The Chicago Cubs picked up relief pitcher Pedro Strop's $6.25 million option for the 2019 season on Thursday. Strop stepped up in a big way for the Cubs bullpen in the second half of the season with closer Brandon Morrow injured, and he even closed out 13 games. Strop finished 6-1 with a 2.26 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings. While he's unlikely to enter next season as the closer, he'll be a handcuff option for those that own the injury-prone Morrow.
Pedro Strop Activated For Wild-Card Game rotoballer.com Tue 10/2/18 12:06 PM
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop (hamstring) will be active for Tuesdays wild-card game versus the Colorado Rockies. Strop has been absent since September 13 with a hamstring injury and will provide a big boost to the Cubs bullpen. Strop is likely to step back in as the Cubs closer.
Pedro Strop's Status Unknown For Wild-Card Game rotoballer.com Tue 10/2/18 2:10 AM
Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon said he didn't know if relief pitcher Pedro Strop (hamstring) will be available for the wild-card game against the Rockies on Tuesday. Strop hasn't pitched in a game in over two weeks, so it seems unlikely that he would be used in such a high-stakes game. Strop filled in nicely for the injured Brandon Morrow in the second half of the season and went 6-1 with a 2.26 ERA, 0.99 [...]
Pedro Strop Hopes To Return For Playoffs rotoballer.com Sat 9/29/18 12:49 PM
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop (hamstring) wont pitch this weekend, but is hopeful to return for the first round of the playoffs. Strops return would be big for the Cubs bullpen and it is likely that Strop would return as the teams closer.
