Schuster had his contract purchased from Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

The Athletics opened up the 40-man roster spot for Schuster by transferring Andrew Lambo to the 60-day DL. The 25-year-old, who has yet to make his debut at the MLB level, produced a shiny 1.30 ERA across 34.2 innings at Triple-A. He'll work in a setup role for the Athletics, but shouldn't be expected to see much usage in high-leverage scenarios.

It looks like he has a chance to beat out Francisley Bueno for a left-handed specialist role.
