Rangers sent INF Omar Quintanilla outright to Triple-A Round Rock. He was cleared to open up a spot on the 40-man roster. Quintanilla predictably struggled during his brief stint with the Rangers, going 1-for-22 (.045) with one triple, two RBI and nine strikeouts.

Rangers purchased the contract of INF Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Round Rock. He'll replace the injured Andres Blanco on the active roster. Quintanilla, 29, was batting .298/.369/.452 with five homers and 25 RBI in the hitter-friendly PCL, but he's a .220 career hitter over 559 plate appearances in the majors.
