Now on the bench for the third time in four contests, Ahmed is a candidate to lose his spot on the roster once the Dodgers return the likes of Tommy Edman (wrist), Max Muncy (oblique), Chris Taylor (groin) and Mookie Betts (hand) from the injured list.

Since the start of the 2023 season, Ahmed has hit just .221/.266/.303 (59 wRC+) in 382 plate appearances, so he's unlikely to be promised regular playing time at his next landing spot.

Wisely has earned the larger portion of the timeshare at shortstop by slashing .313/.329/.478 over 23 games since being called up from Triple-A Sacramento.
