Eovaldi (1-2) took the loss Friday, giving up five runs on eight hits and a walk over 7.1 innings while striking out five as the Rays fell 5-0 to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander kept things close until the eighth inning, when Eovaldi loaded the bases with one out before getting the hook and watched Johnny Venters serve up a bases-clearing double to Gary Sanchez. Eovaldi has a 4.63 ERA through three starts, a figure he'll have a tough time improving upon in his next outing Wednesday in Houston.

Eovaldi allowed three runs on four hits with no walks across five innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Mariners. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The significant damage to Eovaldi's ledger was done via the longball, including a solo home run by Nelson Cruz in the second inning and a two-run shot by Mike Zunino in the sixth. He threw 70 percent of his pitches for strikes and go six groundball outs, but a whopping 38 foul balls by the visitors ran up his pitch count en route to an early removal. Eovaldi's apparently taken a step back after his electric season debut, allowing seven earned runs in 10 innings over two subsequent starts. He'll take a 3.94 ERA into a matchup with the Yankees next weekend.

Eovaldi (elbow) was activated from the 60-day DL and will start Wednesday against the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Jake Faria (oblique) was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Eovaldi on the roster. The 28-year-old Eovaldi will toe the rubber in a big-league game for the first time since August of 2016 after recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. He only built up to 71 pitches in his final minor-league rehab outing, and he struggled mightily in that game (eight earned runs over four innings), so most will want to take a wait-and-see approach.

Eovaldi (elbow) will be activated from the 60-day disabled list to start Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports suggested that Eovaldi would take the hill Tuesday, but he'll instead be bumped back a day in the pitching schedule in order to pick up some extra rest following his 71-pitch rehab outing March 23 with Triple-A Durham. Eovaldi was roughed up for eight runs on 10 hits over four innings during that outing, casting a blight on a otherwise solid four-start rehab assignment. The right-hander may have his pitch count capped Wednesday as he makes his first big-league appearance in nearly two years following a lengthy recovery from Tommy John surgery, but he shouldn't face any strict limitations in his starts to follow.

Eovaldi (elbow) is scheduled to take the hill for Tuesday's matchup against the Athletics, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi is set to come off the disabled list early next week after recovering from arthroscopic surgery that occurred at the end of March. His upcoming start will be his first big-league action since the 2016 season, when he appeared in 24 games and posted a 4.76 ERA with 97 strikeouts across 124.2 innings. The Rays will be grateful to have him back in the starting rotation after losing Jake Faria, Yonny Chirinos and Jose De Leon to the DL.

Eovaldi (elbow) will rejoin the Rays' rotation Monday or Tuesday against the Athletics, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi allowed eight runs on 10 hits over four innings in his most recent rehab start with Triple-A Durham, but he struck out six and manager Kevin Cash said he felt fine afterwards, so his next start will come for the big club. The right-hander, who has been sidelined all season with an elbow issue, most recently pitched in the majors in 2016, when he posted a 4.76 ERA across 124.2 innings with the Yankees.

Eovaldi allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits over four innings in Triple-A Durham's loss to Gwinnett on Wednesday. He struck out six and threw 71 pitches overall.
EDGE Analysis
This was slated to be Eovaldi's final rehab start, and if so, it certainly did nothing to build momentum heading into what would be his 2018 big-league debut. The veteran right-hander was transferred to the 60-day disabled list earlier in the day as a procedural move, but he's eligible to be activated as soon as next Monday. Despite the rough outing Wednesday, there's been no indication that it will derail plans to have Eovaldi return to action next week.

Eovaldi was shifted to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old right-hander hit the 60-day disabled list to make room for Vidal Nuno on the 40-man roster. Eovaldi will be eligible for reinstatement as early as May 28 following the move.

Eovaldi will make one more rehab start for Triple-A Durham before rejoining the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi is yet again on the cusp of returning to action and making his first start since 2016. He missed all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery and has been delayed this year by setbacks with his elbow and ribs. Assuming he's finally ready to go after one more start, he could be on track to return May 28 against Oakland.

Eovaldi (elbow) is slated to throw either three innings or 50 pitches in Friday's rehab start with High-A Charlotte, Jay Paris of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander will also remain with the Stone Crabs for a bullpen session, after which the Rays will likely hone in on a more definitive return date for Eovaldi. Irrespective of what transpires Friday, it appears manager Kevin Cash is leaning toward at least one more minor-league rehab outing for the veteran. "Then we will see where he's at," Cash said. "We're probably another rehab start away from making a decision."
