Jaye (1-1) allowed seven runs on seven hits and two walks across 3.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Indians. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Jaye allowed five runs on four hits and a walk in the third inning before yielding a two-run home run to Jose Ramirez in the fourth. He threw just 11 first-pitch strikes to 23 batters and became predictable as he pitched from behind. Jaye faced an extremely difficult task against the surging Cleveland lineup in his first start of the season, but he didn't pitch well in this audition. He should remain in the rotation after Artie Lewicki was shut down and appears set to start Saturday against the White Sox.

Jaye will move into the rotation and start Monday against the Indians, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Jaye will enter the rotation in place of Artie Lewicki, who will likely be shut down for the season due to workload concerns after amassing 146 innings across three stops on the campaign. The 25-year-old Jaye has fared well in his two long-relief appearances with the Tigers this season, but his middling numbers in the minors (3.96 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 115 strikeouts in 131.2 innings) won't make him an enticing streaming option against a red-hot Indians squad.

Jaye could join the Tigers' rotation next week, likely picking up a start Monday or Tuesday against the Indians, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following the trade last week that sent Justin Verlander to the Astros, the Tigers selected Artie Lewicki from Triple-A Toledo and inserted him into the rotation, but the rookie was never expected to stick around in a starting role for long. Lewicki, who was roughed up for five runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings in his MLB debut Monday against the Royals, is now up to 146 innings on the season over his three stops, which could prompt the Tigers to shut him down due to preserve his arm. Assuming that's the case, Jaye, who has made two solid appearances in relief since being recalled from Triple-A on Friday, would make for the most logical replacement for Lewicki. If Jaye does indeed start Monday or Tuesday, he would line up for a second start next weekend at home against the White Sox.

Jaye (1-0) recorded his first MLB win Tuesday against the Royals. He pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez threw only five pitches before taking a comebacker to the right leg, which forced him out of the game. That thrust Jaye into action early, and he responded well. The Tigers supplied him plenty of run support, too, as they scored seven times in the second inning and 13 times total. Jaye has now tossed 5.2 scoreless innings to begin his MLB career.

Jaye was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
A 25-year-old righty, Jaye will be getting his first taste of the big leagues thanks to September roster expansion. He notched a 3.58 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 60.1 innings (11 starts) with the Mud Hens. Given what the Tigers have already announced regarding other starters, Jaye seems most likely to be used in long relief.

Jaye was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Jaye was aiming to secure a bullpen gig with the big club in spring training, but after getting lit up in Grapefruit League play for eight runs on nine hits and two walks over three innings, the Tigers determined the 25-year-old was better served opening the season in the minors. He's mostly worked as a starter throughout his time in the minors, so Jaye should be in decent position to claim a rotation spot for Toledo, especially after submitting a 3.69 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over seven starts with the club a season ago.

Jaye's contract was purchased from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Jaye pitched well after moving up to Toledo last season, sporting a 3.69 ERA after seven starts, so the Tigers decided to reward him with a spot on the 40-man roster. Detroit has a plethora of starters that are major-league ready, so the 24-year-old's will likely continue to develop at Triple-A unless he makes the switch to the bullpen.
