Givens (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Givens resumed playing catch last week, and he'll make rehab appearances Thursday and Friday. The right-hander has been on the injured list with a left lower back strain since June 17, but he could return to Colorado's bullpen in the near future if his rehab games go well.

Givens (back) was cleared to begin playing catch Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The light throwing marks the first meaningful step forward for Givens since he was shut down last week with a left lower-back strain. Rockies manager Bud Black suggested that the reliever could soon be ready to begin throwing off a mound, which would give Givens an outside chance of returning from the injured list before the end of June.

Givens was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left lower back strain Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Givens hadn't allowed any runs in seven innings across his last seven relief appearances, and he had picked up holds in each of his last three outings. The severity of the injury isn't yet known, and it's unclear whether he'll need to spend more than the 10-day minimum on the injured list. Right-hander Justin Lawrence was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Givens (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit, two walks and a hit-by-pitch over two-thirds of an inning in a loss to Cincinnati on Sunday. He struck out none and was also charged with a blown save.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel Bard had pitched three of the last four days, so Givens got the call for a save opportunity and promptly made a mess of it. A passed ball with the bases loaded allowed Tucker Barnhart to score the game-tying run. Givens was relieved by Jordan Sheffield, whose wild pitch led to another run tacked onto Givens' line. The 31-year-old has a 4.02 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB across 15.2 innings this year. He's added three holds and a 1-1 record in 17 outings.

Givens (1-1) earned the win Friday in a 5-4 victory over the Phillies, striking out one and giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Givens was called upon to preserve a tie game late in Friday's game. The Phillies tried to mount a comeback, but Givens wiped out the threat by inducing an inning-ending double play. The 30-year-old was rewarded for his scoreless effort when Raimel Tapia launched a walk-off home run in the bottom of the inning. After allowing two runs in his season debut, Givens has now registered a scoreless outing in seven out of his last eight appearances, lowering his ERA to 3.00.

Givens (0-1) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while recording a strikeout in Saturday's loss against the Dodgers. He was credited with the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Givens struggled as soon as he stepped on the mound ahead of the eighth inning, and he was unable to get the job done -- he allowed an inside-the-park home run following Raimel Tapia's fielding error and also gave up an RBI double to put the Dodgers away for good. Givens posted a 3.63 ERA last season while making 22 appearances off the bullpen in 2020, and this debut shouldn't be encouraging for fantasy owners who drafted him.

Givens fired one perfect inning while striking out one as he earned the hold in Saturday's spring win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Givens had a rough start to spring training, as he allowed three runs in his first Cactus League appearance this year. However, the right-hander has now allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out two over two scoreless innings in each of his past two appearances. Manager Bud Black has named Daniel Bard the team's closer to begin the season, and Scott Oberg will likely serve as the primary setup man if he's fully built up in time for Opening Day. Givens should serve as a late reliever heading into his first full year with the Rockies, but he has several pitchers ahead of him who are more likely to receive save chances.

Givens signed a one-year, $4.05 million contract with the Rockies on Thursday, to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Givens was traded to Colorado in the middle of the 2020 season. He struggled in a very small sample with the team, surrendering seven earned runs and four long balls across 9.1 frames. Givens has 21 career saves -- one of which came during the 2020 campaign -- and he could hold the closer role at some point during 2021.

Givens tossed one-third of an inning to pick up the save Sunday against the Dodgers. He did not allow a baserunner or record a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Givens entered to get the final out after Daniel Bard struggled to start the frame. It marked the right-hander's first save of the campaign. Bard still figures to be first in line for save chances, though it certainly wouldn't be shocking if Givens get another shot to pitch the ninth during the season's final week.

Givens gave up one run on one hit and one walk without recording a strikeout in one inning Friday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
He was charged with a blown save after giving up a solo home run to Jared Walsh in the top of the eighth inning. The Rockies still ended up getting the win in regulation, even with Daniel Bard giving up another run in the top of the ninth inning. Givens is the de facto setup man for his new team with Bard serving as the closer.
