Mike Puma of the New York Post hears that the Mets are still "somewhat" interested in free agent reliever Mitchell Boggs.
Puma hears that "nothing is on the front burner" for the Mets' bullpen, so a deal might not come together. Boggs was non-tendered by the Rockies in December after posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings of work at the major league league in 2013. The 29-year-old has enjoyed some success in the past, so he could be worth the gamble.

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Phillies, Indians, Mariners and Cubs are among the teams expressing interest in free agent right-hander Mitchell Boggs.
And the Mets are also known to like Boggs, who was non-tendered by the Rockies at the beginning of December after posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings this past season between St. Louis and Colorado. The 29-year-old was one of the top setup men in baseball in 2012.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are interested in Mitchell Boggs.
The Mets are looking for relievers with late-game experience, as they want some protection in case Bobby Parnell (neck) isn't healthy. Boggs is coming off a lackluster season in 2013, posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings, but he'd be a nice buy-low candidate given his previous success with the Cardinals.

Rockies non-tendered RHP Mitchell Boggs.
The Rockies tried to trade the reliever but were unable to find a taker. Boggs was slated to earn more than $1.5 million in arbitration, which was too much in the Rockies' eyes after his disappointing 2013. He pitched well from 2010-12, though, so someone will give the former setup man a shot.

Mitchell Boggs might be non-tendered on Monday.
That's the word from Denver Post beat reporter Troy Renck, who says the Rockies "were still debating the decision this past weekend." Boggs was once a highly-reliable setup man for the Cardinals but he hasn't been the same since they tried him at closer to open the 2013 season. He had an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 total frames this year.

Rockies recalled RHP Mitchell Boggs from Double-A Tulsa.
Boggs was acquired from the Cardinals earlier this month for international-market signing bonus money. The right-hander was one of the better setup men in the major leagues last season for St. Louis but has struggled mightily at multiple levels of professional ball here in 2013. He'll pitch in middle relief for the Rox.

Rockies acquired RHP Mitchell Boggs from the Cardinals in exchange for international signing bonus slot No. 4.
Boggs began the season as the Cardinals' closer, but he flamed out in that role and struggled again after a stint in the minors, ultimately posting an 11.05 ERA and 2.45 WHIP over 18 appearances. He led the National League in holds just a year ago, though, so it's a potentially nice buy-low opportunity for the Rockies.

Mitchell Boggs holds a 5.49 ERA and 1.73 WHIP since his last demotion to Triple-A Memphis.
He's also given up six unearned runs over 19 2/3 innings. The Cardinals' former closer was used as a starter at Memphis briefly, but, at his request, has moved back to the bullpen. It's obvious, though, that he's not close to being recalled, especially since guys like Michael Blazek and Keith Butler are pitching well for the Cards. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss thinks Boggs or Marc Rzepczynski, who is also at Memphis, will be traded this month.
