White is still limited to long toss and has yet to throw off a mound as he completes his recovery from a right shoulder impingement, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander said earlier in the week that he felt healthy, but the Blue Jays are still bringing White along slowly to begin spring training. "I think it's kind of day to day right now," Jays manager John Schneider said Saturday. "We're seeing how he responds with each distance that he gets back out to. Today was another step in the right direction. We'll probably have more updates in the next few days but, for him, it's a little bit fluid right now to make sure we're checking every box." Assuming White's return to the mound isn't delayed too much, he'll compete with Yusei Kikuchi for the fifth starter spot in Toronto's rotation.

White revealed Thursday to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com that he suffered a right shoulder impingement over the offseason.
EDGE Analysis
White is thankfully over it by now and believes he can make a strong claim this spring for the No. 5 spot in the Blue Jays' season-opening starting rotation. Yusei Kikuchi is his primary competition for that role. The odd man out will likely wind up in long relief.

White was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
White served as a bulk reliever during Wednesday's matinee and allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings to take his seventh loss of the year. The right-hander made 25 appearances (18 starts) in the majors this year and posted a 5.45 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 99 innings.

White won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Orioles since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old has given up exactly three runs in each of his past three starts (covering 13.2 innings), and his final start of the regular season will be pushed back. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, and White should start one of those contests.

White did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks with one strikeout over 3.2 innings against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees got to White early with a three-run outburst in the first inning, and the 27-year-old never really settled in. He needed 69 pitches to get through 3.2 innings before he was pulled from the game. Over his last six starts dating back to Aug. 26, he has surrendered 27 earned runs over 25.2 innings with a 17:11 K:BB. He owns a 5.21 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 95 innings split between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays on the season.

White is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday against the Yankees at Rogers Centre, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following his call-up from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, White took the hill later that day against the Rays and took a no-decision in a 10-6 loss while allowing three earned runs on on five hits and one walk over four innings. Nicholson-Smith notes that White is currently slated for a standard start Wednesday, but the Blue Jays could change those plans and deploy him behind an opener depending on what their bullpen situation looks like following Tuesday's contest. Since being acquired from the Dodgers on Aug. 2, White owns an 0-4 record, 7.39 ERA and 1.67 WHIP across 35.1 innings with Toronto.

White was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo prior to Friday's start against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
White made a start at Buffalo on Sunday and allowed eight runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings. In spite of his lackluster results, he'll rejoin the major-league club and should have a chance to remain in the rotation, especially if he performs well against the Rays.

White will be called up from Triple-A Buffalo to start Friday against the Rays, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old pitched for Buffalo on Sunday and will rejoin the big club to start Friday in Tampa Bay. White had a 3.70 ERA over 56 innings with the Dodgers to begin the season, but he's struggled since being acquired by the Blue Jays with 26 earned runs allowed in 31.1 frames.

White will start for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday before rejoining the Blue Jays for the stretch run, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Jays want White to work on his fastball command and improving changeup, which has shown promise in bullpen sessions. White could join the big-league rotation next weekend in Tampa Bay.

White didn't factor into the decision in a 4-2 loss to the Rays during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, giving up three runs on seven hits over six innings of relief. He struck out two without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Julian Merryweather got the nod as an opener in the matinee and handed the Rays a 1-0 lead they never relinquished, so what otherwise would have been a quality start for White instead was merely his best performance since he joined the Jays. The right-hander carries a 7.47 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 31.1 innings since the trade that brought him to Toronto, but given his relative success in a bulk reliever role, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get the same assignment the next time his turn through the rotation comes around.
