Haniger (back) was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Padres, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Initially slated to start in center field and hit second Tuesday, Haniger was pulled from the lineup in order to get more rest for his tight back. The Mariners haven't provided any indication that Haniger's setback is a significant one, so his availability will presumably continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Jake Fraley will join the Cactus League lineup in Haniger's stead.

Haniger was a late scratch for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks for an undisclosed reason, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Haniger was slated to start in center field and bat second, but was announced as a scratch close to first pitch. It remains unclear whether the 28-year-old has an injury concern or if there is another reason for his absence. Shed Long replaced him in the lineup and started in left field, moving Jake Fraley to center field.

Haniger went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and three runs overall in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Haniger was a thorn in the side of Astros pitching throughout the night, both by setting the table for those hitting behind him and by contributing a run himself with his 26th round tripper. The slugging outfielder has now reached safely in 11 straight games, while nearly half (10) of his 21 hits in September have gone for extra bases.

Haniger went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Angels on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
A day after smacking his second home run of September, Haniger served up his fifth consecutive two-hit effort as an encore. The hot-hitting outfielder has also driven in a run in four of the last five games, and nine of his 17 hits for the month have now gone for extra bases (five doubles, two triples, two homers).

Haniger went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Yankees on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Two of Haniger's three outs Sunday came on strikeouts, but he came through in the most important part of the game. The slugging leadoff hitter drew a leadoff walk off Delin Betances to open the eighth and subsequently stole second, allowing him to advance to third on Jean Segura's sacrifice. That put Haniger in position to cross the plate on Robinson Cano's fielder's choice, which eventually proved to be the winning run. Haniger has reached safely in seven of eight September games thus far, although a 6-for-31 tally overall has led to a .194 average following a .345 figure in August.
