Ohlman will start at catcher Monday against the Braves, Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Gibbons said the rookie will start to give Luke Maile a break. The latter is just 1-for-31 (.032) over 10 games, so Ohlman could grab the attention of his manager with a big day at the plate (and, of course, solid defense behind the dish). Thus far, Ohlman has played in one game (0-for-3 with a strikeout) since joining the club last week when Russell Martin (shoulder) landed on the DL. At best, the 26-year-old is an extreme punt play Monday in daily formats.

Ohlman, who was called up to fill the shoes of Russell Martin (shoulder) on Monday, received praise from manager John Gibbons upon arriving in Toronto, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Over eight-plus minor-league seasons, the 26-year-old hit .260/.348/.395 while never seeing big-league action during that time. Through 23 games this year with Triple-A Buffalo, Ohlman hit seven homers en route to a career-best .594 slugging percentage. "I like the way he caught the ball [in Buffalo] and I really liked the way he swung the bat," Gibbons said. "He's a big dude, a big strong guy who looks like he can hit." This opportunity might be Ohlman's one and only chance at sticking in the big leagues. "Here's his break," added Gibbons. "You sign guys as minor-league free agent and you don't always anticipate they're going to get a shot. But you give a guy an opportunity and who knows what happens?" Although Martin isn't expected to be out terribly long, the backup to him is far from a sure thing -- Luke Maile currently owns the gig after Jarrod Saltamacchia was cut loose last week. If Ohlman can put forth an impressive effort during the next week or so, then he could certainly steal the reserve role from Maile.

Ohlman had his contract purchased from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ohlman was added to the roster to take the place of Russell Martin (shoulder), who was recently placed on the 10-day disabled list. The 26-year-old was slashing .246/.388/.594 with seven homers and a 28:15 K:BB through 23 games with Buffalo before earning the promotion. He should serve as the backup to Luke Maile as long as Russell is sidelined.

Ohlman signed a minor league contract with Toronto on Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old catcher also received an invite to join the Jays for spring training. Ohlman hit .287 with seven homers and 44 RBI between two of St. Louis' minor league affiliates in 2016.

The Cardinals have removed Ohlman from their 40-man major-league roster.
EDGE Analysis
The announcement doesn't yet say where he'll wind up, but he's so far down on this depth chart that he'll need dominoes to fall before he contributes at the big-league level.

Ohlman has played 27 games at Triple-A Memphis and has a .253/.337/.360 line after 75 at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
For most of the season, Ohlman's batting average has been hovering around the .250 mark. Ohlman finished with a .273/.356/.418 line at Double-A Springfield last season, so his slight drop in production isn't too alarming for a player that had never appeared at the Triple-A level in their career. As the season progresses, Ohlman's main focus will be cutting down on strikeouts, as he's struck out in 45 percent of his at-bats. With Yadier Molina behind the plate in St. Louis, there will be no rush to bring Ohlman up to the show, giving him plenty of time to polish his game.

Ohlman was traded to the Cardinals on Tuesday for cash considerations, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
The Orioles designated Ohlman for assignment last week, after he struggled to a .236/.310/.318 batting line in 113 games with Double-A Bowie as a 23-year-old. Ohlman is big for a catcher but has a strong arm, and St. Louis will be able to take a chance on him turning it around at the dish without giving up a player in return.

Ohlman was designated for assignment Tuesday.
The Orioles needed to open up a spot on the 40-man roster after trading for Travis Snider, and Ohlman was a natural choice. He is probably the fifth or sixth catcher on the organizational depth chart, so he should be expected to spend most, if not all, of 2015 in the minors.

Orioles optioned C Michael Ohlman to Double-A Bowie.
The Orioles also reassigned catcher Brian Ward to minor league camp. Ohlman, 23, hit .313/.410/.524 with 13 home runs in 361 at-bats last season in High-A.
