Moustakas was removed from Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers after being hit by a pitch on the hand, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas went 0-for-2 before leading off the sixth inning with the hit by pitch, and he was subsequently replaced by a pinch runner. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but the 31-year-old seems unlikely to be in the lineup for Game 2 with the quick turnaround and the new seven-inning rule for doubleheaders.

Moustakas went 1-for-2 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas was cleared to return after being absent from the Reds' lineup for the past three games due to an illness. He quickly produced at the plate, taking Kyle Hendricks deep in his second at-bat of the game for a two-run home run. It was Moustakas' second homer of the year, and he has now reached base in seven of his 12 plate appearances.

Moustakas is starting at second base and batting cleanup Wednesday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
This was anticipated after we found out he and Nick Senzel had been cleared to return, but now we have official confirmation that they are both in the lineup.

Moustakas (illness) is expected to return Wednesday against Cubs, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas and teammate Nick Senzel had been out of action for the past few days due to an illness, though neither tested positive for COVID-19. They had to appeal a panel of league and union representatives to be allowed to return to the field, but that appeal was evidently successful, so they should both be back in the lineup Wednesday.

Moustakas and teammate Nick Senzel plan to appeal to a select panel of league and union representatives Wednesday regarding their MLB-mandated absences as a result of their self-reported COVID-19 symptoms, C. Trent Rosecrans and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic report.
EDGE Analysis
Though both players have been held out of action since reporting their symptoms, neither has received a positive result on multiple COVID-19 tests, leading both to believe they should be eligible to play for the Reds. Moustakas' and Senzel's teammate, Nick Castellanos, relayed after Tuesday's game against the Cubs that both are unable to play until Thursday due to the current protocols in place, but a favorable ruling by the league and union committee Wednesday could expedite their returns.

Teammate Nick Castellanos said after Tuesday's game that Moustakas is testing negative for COVID-19 but can't play until at least Thursday, John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Sunday after waking up not feeling well, but he was apparently only showing similar symptoms to coronavirus and has tested negative. It's unclear if the Reds expect the 31-year-old to be ready to play Thursday, but that's apparently the front end of his return timeline.

Moustakas (illness) has been placed on the injured list.
EDGE Analysis
He woke up under the weather and was therefore scratched from Sunday's lineup. The fact that the Reds did not specify which injured list Moustakas was placed on suggests it was probably the COVID-19 injured list, although we do not have official confirmation. Josh VanMeter should act as the primary second baseman in the short term.

Moustakas, who was scratched from Sunday's lineup, woke up not feeling well, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "We're just being overly cautious," manager David Bell said. "If there's any doubt, we stay home."
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas will undoubtedly be tested for the coronavirus and will rejoin the team once he feels up to it and tests negative. In the meantime, Josh VanMeter should see the bulk of the starts at the keystone.

Moustakas was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
It is unclear why Moustakas was scratched from the lineup. Josh VanMeter, who was originally tabbed to DH, will slide to the keystone while Jesse Winker moves from left field to DH and Nick Senzel enters the lineup in center field.

Moustakas went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the Reds' 7-1 win over the Tigers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas drove in a run in his very first plate appearance (on a hit-by-pitch) and later put one "out in Adam Dunn territory," as the Reds' broadcasters put it, for his first home run in a Reds uniform. Moustakas also made a couple very nice plays at second base. Batting fifth in this lineup is an extremely advantageous spot for run production and he should be in that spot nearly every day.
