Moustakas (shoulder) will bat third and play third base Monday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas missed time with a shoulder issue last week after hurting himself on a diving attempt in the field, but he's escaped without serious injury. He returned as the designated hitter Sunday and will be a full participant one day later.

Moustakas (shoulder) is batting second as the designated hitter in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rockies, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas had been held out of the lineup since Tuesday, when he injured his left shoulder making a diving attempt in the field. The 33-year-old's return to the lineup is a good sign for his Opening Day availability, but the coast may not be fully clear until he's back playing defense.

Moustakas (shoulder) isn't starting Saturday's game against San Francisco. Moustakas said that his shoulder is better, however, and he should return to action on Sunday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds were hopeful that Moustakas would be able to return to game action as soon as Saturday, but he'll remain out of the lineup for at least one more matchup. In spite of his continued absence, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 33-year-old available for Opening Day.

Moustakas (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday, but the Reds are confident that he will be fine, and could return to game action as soon as Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager David Bell is taking extra precautions with Moustakas, who missed a considerable portion of the season last year with an injury that lasted longer than he or the Reds expected. "(I) don't want to push him," Bell said. "I already took him out of the lineup for (Thursday) and we'll shoot for Saturday. I haven't heard any indication why it would be any longer than that."

Manager David Bell said Moustakas is fine and has full range of motion in his left shoulder after exiting Tuesday's spring game against the Dodgers, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas suffered the injury when he landed on his shoulder while making a diving attempt in the field Tuesday, though it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. The 33-year-old could take it easy for a couple days, but he may be able to return to game action before too long.

Moustakas left Tuesday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent left arm injury, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas appeared to hurt either his shoulder or wrist after attempting a diving defensive play. The nature and severity of the injury are not yet clear. Moustakas looks like the Reds' primary third baseman this season provided he's able to remain healthy following an injury-plagued 2021 season.

Moustakas will likely get the lion's share of playing time at third base for the Reds following the trade of Eugenio Suarez to the Mariners, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "Obviously, Mike has earned that," Reds manager David Bell said. "We know what kind of player he is. You lose Geno - huge loss - and you have Mike Moustakas to kind of step right in. He was already factoring in there anyway."
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas had three different injuries last season, missing 85 games. He'll no longer have to scramble to play out of position, though it's possible he'll still see some time at DH.

Moustakas is a good candidate to be the Reds' designated hitter with the NL adopting the DH in 2022, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jonathan India firmly ensconced at second base, Moustakas doesn't have a full-time position right now, and even though he's on the left-handed hitting side of a potential third base platoon, he's a lesser defender. Moreover, he's been injury-prone throughout his career, including his tenure with the Reds. Adding the DH helps Moustakas out tremendously.

Moustakas (foot) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas landed on the 10-day IL with right foot plantar fasciitis last week and would have been eligible to return during the final series of the regular season, but manager David Bell said Tuesday that none of the Reds on the injured list will return this year. The 33-year-old appeared in just 62 games while battling injuries in 2021, and he slashed .208/.282/.372 with six home runs, 22 RBI and 21 runs.

Moustakas was placed on the 10-day injured list with right foot plantar fasciitis Wednesday, retroactive to Sept. 21.
EDGE Analysis
Moustakas has been out of the lineup in each of the last four games, and he's apparently been dealing with the same foot issue that sidelined him for just under three months earlier in the campaign. Eugenio Suarez is in line to serve as the Reds' primary third baseman in his absence, and it's not yet clear whether Moustakas will be able to return prior to the end of the regular season. Moustakas had slashed a weak .177/.225/.313 in 34 games since coming off the 60-day IL in early August, so the Reds likely won't be counting on him to handle an everyday role if he makes it back for the final series of the season.
