NL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 18 rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 4:00 AM
Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can.
The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]
Hot Prospects to Watch Week 18: Beeks, Phillips, Spanberger rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 3:45 AM
Today is the trade deadline and it seems safe to assume we'll be seeing more prospects landing on new teams by the end of the day.
Last week we took a look at some top prospects that could potentially have a path to the majors open up by trade or that could themselves be traded away. This week we'll take a look at players who have already gotten a change in scenery and see what their value looks like with their new franchises. Two of these players — Jalen Beeks and Brett Phillips — are al[...]
Potential Risers/Fallers After the MLB Trade Deadline rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 3:10 AM
The MLB Trade Deadline is one of the most exciting parts of the baseball season. Contenders get to bolster their rosters for the playoff push while rebuilding clubs get to add potential studs to their growing farm system. With players such Manny Machado, Zach Britton, Mike Moustakas and many others already moved, teams around the league have kicked the trade deadline off early.
While the deadline is used as an opportunity for clubs to improve their team in the present and future, it could hav[...]
Champ or Chump: Cole Hamels and Mike Moustakas rotoballer.com Mon 7/30/18 3:55 AM
The moves just keep on coming. Joakim Soria no longer has an obvious path to saves, so he can be dropped in most formats. Luke Voit, Chasen Shreve, Jonny Venters, and Ryan Pressly are not fantasy-relevant in most formats regardless of their home park. Eduardo Escobar is heading to the desert, where a superior lineup figures to boost his counting stats if and only if he maintains the playing time and batting order slot he enjoyed in Minnesota. I previously wrote about him here.
Asdrubal Cabrer[...]
Adalberto Mondesi (2B/SS, KC) - Week 18 Waiver Wire Pickups rotoballer.com Sun 7/29/18 5:26 AM
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 4% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Royals utility player Adalberto Mondesi may have had his fantasy season saved by the Royals trading Mike Moustakas to the Brewers. Mondesi has been a boon to your batting average in recent days as well, and he has speed to offer on top of it. The 23-year-old has hit safely in eight straight, collecting multiple hits in five of those games.
He has slashed .294/.310/.471 with three homers and seven steals [...]
Buy or Sell - Undervalued and Overvalued Players for Week 18 rotoballer.com Sat 7/28/18 3:00 AM
In a relatively active week on the MLB trade market, we now have several impactful moves to digest from a fantasy standpoint. While real-life GMs always assume trades will work in their team's benefit, the reality is that not all players are able to adapt to their new team in a positive way. With more deals to come and fantasy trade deadlines looming, it's time to take some risks and project values of newly dealt stars.
Scouting players who may be undervalued and re-assessing players who may [...]
Mike Moustakas Traded To Milwaukee Brewers rotoballer.com Sat 7/28/18 12:45 AM
The Kansas City Royals traded third baseman Mike Moustakas to the Milwaukee Brewers late Friday. The Royals received minor leaguers, Brett Phillips and Jorge Lopez. Moustakas is a difference-making bat, with 20 HR and 62 RBI so far this season. The move makes it likely that regular third baseman Travis Shaw will move to second base, where he has been putting in practice time at for the past month. The move improves the fantasy value for Moustakas due to being part of a better lineup in Milwa[...]
Braves Monitoring Mike Moustakas Closely rotoballer.com Wed 7/25/18 11:38 AM
The Atlanta Braves are monitoring Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas very closely, according to sources. Moose has cooled off a bit after his slow start but is still hitting .247 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI after setting the team's single-season record with 38 homers a year ago. He'd slide in as the everyday starter for a surprisingly good and young Braves team at third base. That'd be bad news for Johan Camargo.
Mike Moustakas Drawing A Lot Of Trade Interest rotoballer.com Wed 7/25/18 11:35 AM
Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas, who has 20 home runs and 61 RBI, is drawing a significant amount of trade interest. Six National League teams and three American League teams are talking about him with the Royals. The Phillies are particularly interested after losing out on Manny Machado. Moose will have a much higher fantasy ceiling just about on any team but the Royals.
