Miguel Cairo suffered only a bruise when he was hit on the left wrist by a pitch Friday. Cairo jumped up and down in pain when he was hit by a Kyle McClellan pitch, but it turns out that it's not that bad and he's available to play. "It's just bruised," he said. "I might have overreacted."

Miguel Cairo (oblique) served as a defensive replacement on Monday night against the Rockies. Cairo missed Sunday's game in Chicago due to mild soreness in his oblique. He should feel enough to take over starting third base duties by the middle of this week.

Miguel Cairo is dealing with soreness in his oblique area. Reds manager Dusty Baker didn't sound terribly concerned about the injury, but Cairo isn't playing Sunday and seems like to rest for an additional day or two. "Miggy is sore in the oblique area," Baker said. "We don't want to pull that and get him hurt."

Miguel Cairo's sixth-inning homer plated both of the Reds' runs in their 2-1 win over the Blue Jays on Sunday. He took Carlos Villanueva deep to left field. The blast was Cairo's third of the season. He's hitting a solid .271 with 14 RBI through his first 107 at-bats, but he just isn't playing enough to have any real value in NL-only leagues.
