Moniak will be away from the team while attending to a personal matter. While on the bereavement list, he will be required to miss a minimum of three games and a maximum of seven. In Moniak's absence, the Rockies replenished their outfield depth by recalling Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Moniak put the Rockies on the board with a solo home run in the third inning before tying things up at 2-2 with an RBI single in the seventh. It was his sixth multi-hit game of the season (and first since May 11), but he has struggled at the plate this season. Since signing with the Rockies shortly before Opening Day, Moniak has been deployed primarily as a strong-side platoon outfielder, but his grasp on a regular spot in the lineup versus righties appears to be slipping. For the second day in a row, Moniak finds himself on the bench against a righty (Max Meyer), while Tyler Freeman picks up another start in right field at Moniak's expense. Moniak owns a woeful .213/.252/.394 slash line in 135 plate appearances versus righties this season, so the Rockies' decision to scale back his playing time doesn't come as a major surprise.

The Colorado outfielder accounted for his team's lone run when he cracked a 399-foot solo shot off Chicago starter Jameson Taillon in the fifth. Moniak homered for the second consecutive day and picked up his second free pass of the month. In May, the 27-year-old sports a .235 (16-for-68) average with 20 Ks. Through 154 total plate appearances, Moniak is now slashing .217/.266/.406 with 16 runs scored, 15 RBI and a stolen base.
