McKenry (abdomen) will remain in Rangers camp after rosters are announced to continue with his rehab, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
He got on base at a .406 clip in 24 at-bats this spring, but the team acquired Bryan Holaday in a trade in order to address the backup catcher spot, so McKenry should head to Triple-A when his rehab is complete.

McKenry (knee) signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
A torn meniscus prematurely ended McKenry's 2015 season in August after the catcher posted a .205/.329/.402 slash line with 17 RBI over 127 at-bats with the Rockies. He'll join the Rangers organization with a chance at making the opening day roster given the team's relative lack of depth at the position.

McKenry was released by the Rockies on Thursday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
McKenry had surgery in August to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, ending his season early. In 127 at-bats this season, the 30-year-old catcher slashed .205/.329/.402 to go along with 4 home runs and 17 RBI. Those rather ugly numbers were seemingly the result of Coors Field -- in 63 away at-bats this season, McKenry posted a batting average of .159 and managed to knock out just one home run -- figures that could certainly hurt his chance at playing in a prominent role with another club.

Colorado Rockies catcher Mike McKenry is dealing with a buildup of fluid in his right knee, according to the Associated Press. McKenry was held out of the lineup Wednesday with typical battery mate Jorge De La Rosa on the mound, but manager Walt Weiss said he should be ready to return Friday.

McKenry went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, and three RBI in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers.
McKenry's playing time has been scarce this season with Nick Hundley both hitting well and offering superior defense behind the plate, but the backup backstop makes for a strong target in daily formats just about whenever he's scheduled to start at Coors Field. Over 135 career plate appearances at the Rockies' home park, he's slashing .360/.470/.586.

McKenry got the start behind the plate Saturday, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run.
It was his second home run of the season, coming in just 47 at-bats. McHenry's been productive in his rare opportunities, slashing .255/.375/.447 on the season, but he'll need Nick Hundley to cool down before he has a chance of seeing his workload increase significantly.

McKenry went 1-for-2 with his first homer of the year, drew three walks, drove in two runs and scored twice Thursday in a win over the Phillies.
In a manner typical of Rockies hitters, McKenry has been a dynamo at home this year, albeit in a tiny sample -- he's 6-for-15 (.400) with the homer, three doubles and six walks (against four strikeouts) at Coors Field. Unfortunately, he doesn't see very regular action backing up Nick Hundley, largely limiting McKenry's fantasy utility to deeper NL-only formats.

McKenry supplied three hits, a run, and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Padres.
Given that McKenry was able to uphold a .315 batting average last season, the three-hit showing at Coors Field wasn't overly surprising, but the stolen base sure was. After failing to record a stolen base in his first five seasons in the big leagues, McKenry now has a steal in two of his last three starts. That certainly shouldn't be viewed as a trend, and neither should fantasy players expect regular starting assignments for McKenry because of it. Primary catcher Nick Hundley is hitting well so far this season and offers superior defense behind the plate, which should ensure that his name is penciled into the lineup for the majority of the Rockies' games.

McKenry went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Giants.
It was the first stolen base in 252 career MLB games for McKenry. The backstop was making just his second start of the season, as Nick Hundley was just receiving a day off for the series finale. Hundley appears to be firmly entrenched as the Rockies' regular catcher, which will leave few opportunities for McKenry to pick up regular at-bats and unless an injury occurs.

McKenry will start at catcher Sunday against the Cubs.
McKenry will take over for Nick Hundley, who will get a day off for the day game following the night game. McKenry isn't expected to serve as the personal catcher for anyone on the Rockies' staff in 2015, so look for his reps to be few and far between.
