King (12-8) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
King rebounded from losing his last two starts to turning in a quality start. A Michael Conforto solo shot in the sixth inning was the lone run on his line. This was the 13th time in 28 outings (27 starts) where King was able to limit an opponent to one run or fewer. He's now at a 3.10 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 185:58 K:BB through 156.2 innings. King is expected to draw a rematch with the Giants next week in San Francisco.

King (11-8) took the loss Thursday against the Cardinals, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
While both runs against King were unearned, the right-hander struggled with his command again Thursday, eventually needing 103 pitches to make it through just 4.1 innings. King's now issued 10 walks in his last three starts (15.1 innings) -- he's allowed nine runs in that span, though just three have been earned. Overall, King sports a 3.05 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 177:57 K:BB across 150.2 innings this season. The right-hander lines up for a home matchup with the Tigers in his next outing.

King (11-7) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
King struggled with his command early, issuing three walks in the opening frame while also surrendering an RBI double to Pete Alonso. The right-hander then went 1-2-3 through the next two innings before stumbling again in the fourth, coughing up a grand slam to Fransisco LIndor as the Mets took a commanding 5-0 lead -- though none of the last four runs would count against him on account of a fielding error from Manny Machado. Despite his struggles, King would still make it through five innings for the 10th consecutive start and he now carries a 2-1 record in August to go along with a 2.45 ERA and 30:7 K:BB. He's also recorded six or more strikeouts in seven straight outings.

King (11-6) earned the win over Minnesota on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
The three walks King issued were his most over his past nine starts, but he was still pretty efficient in getting through six frames on 85 pitches (53 of which were strikes). The right-hander induced 14 whiffs and finished with his fifth quality start across his past six outings. King has thrived in his first season as a full-time starter, registering a 3.18 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 167:50 K:BB over 141.1 innings. He's been a huge addition to a Padres rotation that is currently without Yu Darvish (personal) and that was without Joe Musgrove for much of the campaign.

King (10-6) got the win over the Pirates on Tuesday after allowing seven hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out 10 without issuing a walk.
EDGE Analysis
King posted his fourth outing of the season with at least 10 strikeouts and his fourth of at least six innings with zero earned runs allowed. He struck out the side in the second and fourth innings and allowed the Pirates to put runners into scoring position only twice. Since May 1, King is second in the majors among all starting pitchers with a 3.6 fWAR and has a 1.91 ERA over his last seven starts. He has just two starts since May 4 with fewer than five strikeouts and has been a massive addition to the San Diego rotation after coming over in the Juan Soto trade. For the year, King owns a 3.19 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 161:47 K:BB in 135.1 innings. He lines up to face the Twins at home to begin next week.

King allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
King had his previous turn in the rotation skipped due to a left calf issue, but he was able to handle a normal workload with 94 pitches Wednesday. The right-hander began his outing poorly by giving up a pair of runs in the first frame and another (unearned) run in the second, but he yielded just one more run over his final three innings. King had a three-game quality-start streak snapped and gave up more than two runs for the first time in his past six outings, but he appeared to emerge from the appearance without any setbacks and should be fine to make his next start, which is projected to be a rematch with the Pirates next week.

The Padres list King (calf) as their scheduled starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
King will return to the mound for the first time since July 27 after having his turn in the rotation skipped this past week while he contended with lingering left calf soreness, which stemmed from being struck by a comebacker. The right-hander was able to play catch Friday and Saturday without incident and looks like he'll be ready to start Wednesday after completing a bullpen session Monday. King has turned in quality starts in four of his last five outings while accruing a 1.76 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB over 30.2 innings.

King (calf) played catch Friday and Saturday and is expected to be available to make a start in the Padres' series in Pittsburgh that runs Tuesday through Thursday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
King wasn't able to make his scheduled start Sunday against the Rockies due to lingering soreness in his left calf, but the right-hander looks as though he'll avoid missing a full turn through the rotation. San Diego has yet to name any of its starters for the three-game series with the Pirates, so King could be cleared to take the hill as soon as Tuesday, which would put him in line for a two-start week.

Padres manager Mike Shildt revealed Friday on 97.3 The Fan that King will not make his scheduled start Sunday versus the Rockies due to lingering left calf soreness as a result of being hit by a comebacker in his last outing.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like King just needs a couple extra days of rest and will be ready to go early next week, but the Padres are still discussing their options to fill in for Sunday's start. Carl Edwards has been stretched out as a starter since he signed a minor-league deal last month and last pitched Sunday, so he could be a possibility for a spot start. Edwards would need to be added to the 40-man roster, however.

King (9-6) earned the win against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over 6.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
King cruised through six innings and was pulled at 101 pitches after allowing two baserunners in seventh. Both inherited runners came around to score, but the righty logged his third straight quality start and has yielded two or fewer earned runs in nine of his past 10 outings. On the season, he owns a 3.26 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 144:45 K:BB across 124.1 innings and lines up for a favorable home matchup with the Rockies next week.
