Brantley (shoulder) will likely start the season on the disabled list, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Terry Francona said Saturday that Brantley will be sidelined for the remaining of spring training due to his shoulder injury. Brantley has been ahead of schedule in his rehab from offseason shoulder surgery, but it's becoming increasingly clear that he won't quite be ready when the Indians open their season. Rajai Davis is the likely candidate to start in left field on Opening Day.

Brantley (shoulder) is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantley appeared on track to be ready for Opening Day, but his progress has slowed and that seems doubtful. Cleveland has already been floating a plan to limit Brantley to minor league games so he can be placed on the DL retroactively, so he might not have to miss to much time to start the season. In his absence, several outfielders could see time at left field, including Rajai Davis, Joey Butler, and Marlon Byrd.

Brantley (shoulder) may be limited to minor-league exhibition games for the remainder of spring training in order to limit his time on the DL if he's not ready for the start of the regular season, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Any appearance in a major league exhibition game from Friday onward would be the date at which point a DL stint could be retroactive to so the Indians may limit him to minor league action to limit his stay on the DL if he starts the season on the disabled list. It's important to note that Brantley could still be ready for the start of the regular season but limiting him to minor league games could have him eligible to return about a week into the season even if he has to start on the 15-day DL.

Brantley (shoulder) will be given a few days off from game action after experiencing some problems bouncing back from a pair of games over the last few days, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantley made his Cactus League debut Saturday and saw action again Monday and the Indians are simply going to give him some time off to let some residual side effects clear up.

Brantley (shoulder) didn't report any lingering soreness following his Cactus League debut Saturday and is expected back in the lineup Monday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantley is trending towards a return for Opening Day as his rehab from offseason shoulder surgery continues to go exceedingly well.

Brantley (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a home run in his major league sprint training debut in Saturday's win over the Cubs. He also had an outfield assist. "They told me I was going to be ready when I told them I was ready," Brantley told MLB.com.
EDGE Analysis
Brantley had played in a minor league spring game Thursday. Brantley has said his goal is to be ready for Opening Day. He underwent labral surgery on his right (non-throwing) shoulder on Nov. 9 and initially it was thought he may miss a month or so of the regular season. It increasingly looks like he'll be ready for Opening Day, but we'll need to see how his shoulder responds to playing spring games.

Brantley (shoulder) will make his spring debut Saturday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old grounded out in a pair of at-bats on the minor league side Thursday, but the team saw enough to feel comfortable inserting Brantley into the major league lineup. Brantley will be in left field Saturday and it looks like he still has a shot at Opening Day, though he will be cutting it very close with just over two weeks left in spring training.

Brantley (shoulder) grounded out in a pair of at-bats in a minor-league game Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Results aren't important at this point for Brantley as he looks to take the next steps in his rehab as Opening Day approaches. Don't be alarmed if he's given a day off Friday after making his exhibition play debut Thursday.

Brantley (shoulder) will play in a minor league spring game Thursday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brantley is expected to play four or five innings in the outfield and get "a few" at-bats Thursday in what will be his first game action since November shoulder surgery. While the outfielder is ahead of schedule, he remains without a timetable to make his Cactus League debut.

Brantley's (shoulder) first game action figures to come in a minor league game later this month, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians medical staff still hasn't cleared Brantley for game action and his presence in a minor league won't necessarily put him on track to open the season with the Indians. We'll have a better idea of an eventual return date if he's able to participate in an exhibition game before spring wraps up.
