Stassi will be out until Wednesday as he flies to Houston to have his hand examined, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros will keep their fingers crossed that no significant problems are found, but we should learn more in the next few days. Stassi's numbers in spring training haven't exactly impressed so far, as he's 2-for-16 with four strikeouts.

Stassi is working with Astros manager A.J. Hinch to improve his framing, receiving and stance behind the plate this spring, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
"If he makes our team, I want our pitching staff to be comfortable throwing to him," Hinch said of the 24-year-old. "We're going to put in a little bit of work to make sure that his mechanics behind the plate are where they should be, that his body positioning and his hand position are where they should be. He's hungry to get better." Stassi is the favorite to win the Astros' backup catcher job behind starter Jason Castro, but Alfredo Gonzalez, Roberto Pena and Tyler Heineman loom as other internal options for the role, albeit with considerably less experience.

Stassi is back in the lineup on Wednesday, hitting ninth and catching.
EDGE Analysis
While he hasn't seen a ton of at-bats, Stassi has more than made the most of them. Playing mostly as a pinch hitter, Stassi is 5-for-13 in nine games played with a home run and two RBI.

Stassi hit a pinch-hit home run in a 10-6 win over the A's on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Stassi has only gotten two starts for the Astros, but he's done well in his pinch-hit appearances. The youngster has only recorded nine at-bats this season and he'll be lucky to reach 20, simply due to the fact they need to give at-bats to Hank Conger and Jason Castro. Keep an eye on him in a couple of years though.

Stassi was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
It seemed like the Astros were going to wait for rosters to expand before addressing backup catcher with Jason Castro (quad) ailing, but instead they placed Castro on the DL Saturday. This will probably result in Stassi getting a handful of starts behind the dish down the stretch, but he probably won't play enough to be useful in many season-long formats.

Stassi is 8-for-30 (.267) with a home run and three RBI through 10 games for Triple-A Fresno. The 24-year-old catcher has struck out 13 times in 30 at-bats with only three walks. Stassi was a September call up for the Astros in each of the past two seasons, but he's only played 10 career big league games. While he's not likely to make an impact in the majors this season with Jason Castro, Hank Conger and Evan Gattis ahead of him on Houston's organizational depth chart, an injury to any one of those players would certainly increase his chances of a call up.

Stassi was optioned to Astros' minor league camp on Sunday. In 12 Grapefruit League games, Stassi hit .375 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI over 16 at-bats. The 24-year-old will open 2015 with Triple-A Fresno, where he's only a phone call away from Houston should Jason Castro or Hank Conger succumb to injury during the season.

Stassi will make his first start of 2014 on Wednesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Stassi will assume the backstop duties Wednesday with Nick Tropeano, a pitcher he's familiar with from Triple-A Oklahoma City, scheduled to make his MLB debut. Stassi logged eight big league plate appearances with the Astros last September before a concussion ended his season.

Stassi will be recalled by the Astros Tuesday when rosters expand, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Stassi will be the third string catcher for the Astros behind Jason Castro and Carlos Corporan, meaning he likely won't see enough reps to warrant much fantasy consideration this season. The 23-year-old has hit .247/.296/.378 with nine homers over 101 games in the minors this year.
