AL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 21 rotoballer.com Mon 8/20/18 3:15 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can. The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]

Max Stassi Drives In Three Runs In Astros Win rotoballer.com Wed 8/1/18 3:47 PM

Houston Astros catcher Max Stassi went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Astros beat the Mariners 8-3. For Stassi, it was his first multi-RBI game since July 7 and only has five RBI over his last 54 at-bats. After a strong start to the season, Stassi has struggled with consistency at the plate and had only two hits over his last 19 at-bats coming into the game. The injury to catcher Brian McCann opened the door for more playing time but Stassi has been unable to cash in. The Astros trot out a high[...]

Surplus to Requirements - Minor Trades and Fantasy Implications rotoballer.com Mon 7/30/18 4:15 AM

For fantasy baseball owners the trading deadline is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, the hope is that players move into better spots on better teams, or at the very least, do not move to worse spots. On the other hand, trades lead to changes, and changes are not always good for players. Closers move to set-up roles, and backups move into starting roles quicker at this points in the season than any other time.  As baseball fans it is exciting, but as owners, perhaps not so much. So then[...]

Houston Astros catcher Max Stassi is currently in a 4-for-27 slump and is hitting only .216 through 37 at-bats in July. Stassi has only one extra-base hit this month and his .243 slugging percentage is a far cry from the .640 slugging he posted in May. The 27-year-old hit his way into an increased role on the roster this season and became the everyday catcher after the knee injury to veteran Brian McCann. But Stassi has failed to take the starting position and run with it, further fueling rumo[...]

Max Stassi Remains Starting Catcher For Now rotoballer.com Tue 7/17/18 10:58 AM

Houston Astros catcher Max Stassi capped off his first half on a down note, hitting only .200 with a .275 slugging percentage over his last 40 at-bats. Stassi emerged as a reliable player after hitting .340 in the month of May with three home runs and six doubles. But once veteran Brian McCann was put on the shelf with a knee injury, Stassi's role has increased to mixed results. He is hitting only .191 over the last month and a half and rumors that the Astros may be interested in Marlins catch[...]

Stassi was hit by a pitch on his wrist Tuesday and suffered a contusion. Both Stassi and Hinch mentioned that it was just a contusion and he will continue to work through the soreness and get mobility back. The Astros have a four game set with the White Sox starting Thursday and he should be able to return during that time.
