Thaiss came off the bench and went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's spring training loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels' first base prospect has hit the ground running this spring, batting .313 (5-for-16) with a pair of homers and four RBI. He has a tough road to breaking camp on the 25-man roster as the club will likely want their backup first baseman to be right-handed in order to platoon with Luis Valbuena. That said, if the 22-year-old can continue to prove that he has developed the power to compliment his solid discipline at the plate (77 walks in 606 plate appearances across two levels last season), he could force manager Mike Scioscia to make a tough decision come Opening Day.

Thaiss was invited to attend spring training as a non-roster invitee, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thaiss started the 2017 season at High-A Inland Empire, where he played 84 games before earning a promotion to Double-A Mobile. He impressed with Mobile, where he posted an outstanding .412 on-base percentage over 49 games. Between the two levels, the 22-year-old combined to slash .274/.375/.395.

Thaiss was promoted to Double-A Mobile on Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2016 first round pick will move up to the next level of the minor leagues after 84 games with High-A Inland Empire this season. During 385 plate appearances in 2017, Thaiss has batted .265/.353/.399 with eight home runs and 48 RBI. Although he hasn't been overly impressive, especially in terms of power at the plate, the Angels want to give him a chance to work on his game at a higher level.

Thaiss is slashing .262/.351/.396 with seven home runs and a 44:33 K:BB in 299 plate appearances for High-A Inland Empire.
EDGE Analysis
His approach remains impeccable, but for a 22-year-old first baseman at High-A, his .135 ISO leaves a lot to be desired. As a recent first-round pick (No. 16 overall in 2016), Thaiss will be given the benefit of the doubt for a little while longer, but he will need to start tapping into more power or showing off an elite hit tool in order to realistically profile as an everyday big-league first baseman.

Thaiss went 4-for-5 with his third homer of the season Sunday for High-A Inland Empire against Rancho Cucamonga.
EDGE Analysis
After a big spring training, Thaiss has started slowly for Inland Empire, as his four-hit game finally brought his batting average over .200. He's now hitting .212/.333/.364 in 78 plate appearances, with 11 walks and 13 strikeouts. The Inland Empire squad is full of slumping players right now, so Thaiss is getting frequently pitched around. The Angels' first-round pick last year, Thaiss is walking more and striking out more than he did last year.

Thaiss was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thaiss bat was as good as ever at spring training. Over 10 games, he went 5-for-11 and drew two walks. It should become clear where the 21-year-old will start the 2017 season in the coming weeks, but he'll likely be sent to Low-A Burlington or High-A Inland Empire.

Thaiss received an invitation to major league spring training Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as no surprise, as Thaiss has established himself as one of the Halos' top prospects following a strong professional debut that saw him make the leap to Low-A and hold his own. The 21-year-old will likely start 2017 either at Low-A or High-A, but if he continues to display outstanding plate discipline while batting in the upper-.200s, he could move up further in the organization by the end of the season.

Thaiss was promoted to Low-A Burlington on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 16th overall pick in this year's draft, Thaiss slashed .338/.394/.569 with two homers in 65 at-bats in the Pioneer League prior to the promotion. It was thought that the Angels were drafting Thaiss as a catcher, but he has only played first base so far as a professional. There's a chance the team will move him back behind the plate next year and they are just trying to ease the physical load during his first taste of pro ball, but it's probably more likely that he just sticks at first base. So far it seems he has the hitting ability to potentially profile at first base, and he is easily the top prospect for fantasy purposes in the Angels' system.
