The Cubs recalled Shaw from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw earned another shot with the big club after putting up a .970 OPS, six home runs, five steals and an 11:17 K:BB over 24 contests. He slashed only .172/.294/.241 across 68 plate appearances in his first stint in the majors, but the Cubs seem more confident that Shaw will fare better against big-league pitching this time around. Shaw will take over as the Cubs' primary third baseman, with Jon Berti shifting to a utility role.

EDGE Analysis
After beginning the season as Chicago's starting third baseman, Shaw slashed just .172/.294/.241 across 68 plate appearances over his first 18 games in the majors. Shaw is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will give way to Gage Workman at third base after starting in each of the Cubs' previous seven games. While he's shown a patient eye at the plate with a 17.6 percent walk rate over his 51 plate appearances, Shaw has yet to provide much value in traditional 5x5 category leagues. He enters Monday's contest with a .190 batting average to go with one home run, 10 runs, three RBI and zero stolen bases.

EDGE Analysis
Both of the runs Shaw batted in Wednesday came on singles in the third and seventh frame in a blowout win. The 23-year-old third baseman has logged a hit in four of his last five games, and over that span he has gone 5-for-17 with four walks, five runs, one home run and three RBI.

Shaw went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 victory versus Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw didn't start the contest, but he came through in a big way as a pinch hitter when he smacked a solo homer to left-center field in the seventh inning. The long ball was his first major-league home run, and it proved to be the winning margin in the 4-3 win. Shaw is working as the Cubs' primary third baseman in his rookie campaign, and he's gone 3-for-19 through his first five major-league games.

Shaw went 1-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored in Thursday's 10-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw was making his third straight start for the Cubs, and the rookie put together his best performance to date during the team's domestic opener. There may be some growing pains for the 23-year-old, but Chicago seems committed to him at third base, and Shaw did manage a robust .867 OPS across Double-A and Triple-A last year. The 13th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft has the talent to make an impact in the majors right away.
