Moore's contract was selected by the Rangers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Moore joined the Rangers on a minor-league deal in mid-March, but he'll now link up with the big-league club after Josh Sborz (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 32-year-old Moore made two relief appearances at Triple-A Round Rock to begin the year, and he struck out seven in five scoreless frames. Although the southpaw has experience as a starter, he'll likely pitch out of the bullpen for now.

Moore agreed Sunday with the Rangers on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to MLB spring training, independent baseball journalist Jeff Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moore will be embarking on his second stint with the Rangers, after he previously spent the 2018 campaign in Texas, with whom he posted a 6.79 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 102 innings. The Rangers have since opened a more pitcher-friendly ballpark, but the fact that Moore is now four years older and attending camp as a non-roster invitee makes it an uphill battle for him to claim a rotation spot with the big club, much less find success in his second tour with Texas. Moore at least appears to be healthy again, after he finished the 2021 campaign on the Phillies' injured list with a low-back strain. Before being shut down, he made 24 appearances (13 starts) for the Phillies, submitting a 6.29 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 63:38 K:BB in 73 frames.

Moore (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move confirms that the back strain that sent Moore to the injured list Thursday will in fact be season-ending. His return to MLB after a 2020 season spent in Japan wound up being a disappointing one, as he struggled to a 6.29 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 13 starts and 11 relief appearances. The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the Phillies to select Kyle Dohy's contract.

Moore was placed on the 10-day injured list with a low back strain Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 20.
EDGE Analysis
Moore tweaked his back during batting practice Wednesday, and the issue will force him to spent time on the injured list. He'll be eligible to return prior to the end of the regular season since the move was backdated to Monday, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be healthy enough in time. Left-hander Cristopher Sanchez was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place in the bullpen.

Moore will be available out of the bullpen Saturday, with the Phillies expected to go with bullpen days in what had been his spot in the rotation, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moore has been ineffective for most of the season, struggling to a 6.49 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 13 starts and eight relief appearances. The expanded September rosters mean the Phillies won't need to use him to eat innings, though he could still be used in a multi-inning relief role during those bullpen games.

Moore surrendered five runs on six hits and five walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings during Tuesday's win over the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
A lack of control plagued Moore once again. The southpaw threw only 38 of his 82 pitches for strikes, registering a strike rate of 46.3 percent. Moore's start is the first by a Phillies pitcher with five-plus walks and two or fewer strikeouts since Henderson Alvarez in 2017. The 32-year-old has eclipsed five innings in a start just once across his last seven outings. Moore could potentially see another turn in the rotation if Zach Eflin (knee) remains on the shelf. If so, he lines up for a road start Monday at Milwaukee.

Moore (2-4) picked up the loss Thursday pitching four innings while allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in a loss to Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Moore ran into trouble early Thursday allowing four consecutive singles in the second inning to plate two runs, while also later surrendering a two-run home run to Nick Ahmed. The southpaw only threw 70 pitches total in the contest, and has surpassed five innings in a start once across his last six outings. Moore will likely take the mound next week in Washington.

Moore will start Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old will step in to start on short notice after right-hander Zach Eflin was scratched due to a knee issue. Moore made his last start Friday, so he'll be pitching on normal rest in Thursday's series opener against Arizona.

Moore didn't factor into the decision Friday against San Diego after allowing two runs on three hits and four walks while fanning four across 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Moore has managed to bounce back from his Aug. 10 outing against the Dodgers, in which he gave up three runs and recorded just one out, and he's now allowed just two runs across 10.1 innings (two starts) since rejoining the rotation. He's started in 11 of his 19 appearances, though his recent performances have not been very good. He has given up at least two earned runs in all but one of his last nine outings, posting a 6.03 ERA across 37.1 innings in that span.

Moore is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Padres in San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
Moore joined the rotation last week as a replacement for Chase Anderson, who had been moved to the injured list with a triceps issue. Though the veteran southpaw had maintained a 7.67 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in his previous seven outings with the Phillies before his Aug. 14 start against the Reds, he surprised by striking out eight over six no-hit innings. Moore's body of work this season would suggest his most recent start is a massive outlier, but he'll at least get the chance to make one more turn through the rotation while a now-healthy Anderson works out of the bullpen.
