Chapman went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run in a win over the Giants on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old went hitless in his first two games after returning from a hand injury earlier this month, but he's hit .289 (11-for-38) with five doubles, three RBI, three walks and eight runs over the 43 plate appearances encompassing his subsequent 10 contests. Chapman hasn't been quite as productive in certain categories during the first half as he was in almost the same number of plate appearances in his rookie 2017 campaign. However, a near five-point reduction in strikeout rate (28.2 percent to 23.6 percent) has helped produce a 16-point boost in average to .250, along with a 29-point increase in on-base percentage to .342.

Chapman is hitting .333 (6-for-18) with three doubles, a walk, a stolen base and three runs over the five games he's played since returning from the disabled list.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman appears fully recovered from the hand injury that cost him the entire second half of June, a span of 15 games. The infielder put together a 4-for-4 night against the Indians on Saturday, and he hit safely in all three games of the series against Cleveland after getting blanked by the Padres in his first two contests after returning to action. Factoring in Sunday's 1-for-4 day, Chapman's season line stands at a solid .256/.350/.450 over 300 plate appearances.

Chapman (hand) went 1-for-4 in High-A Stockton's win over Lancaster on Monday. He remains on track to be activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman apparently made through all nine innings without setbacks. He played third base and hit second, and it appears he'll be activated ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Padres as planned. The infielder is slashing .250/.346/.557 over 280 plate appearances, showing some nice pop along the way with 25 extra-base hits (12 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs).

Chapman (hand) will make a rehab appearance at High-A Stockton on Monday and is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Padres, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman was able to complete batting practice Sunday without incident, so he'll test himself in a more competitive setting Monday. If all goes well, Chapman should be cleared to rejoin the Athletics and take back his start as the team's everyday third baseman, resulting in Franklin Barreto losing out on a regular spot in the lineup while Jed Lowrie shifts back to the keystone. Chapman, who has been sidelined for just over two weeks with the sore right hand, was hitting .250 with 10 home runs across 280 plate appearances prior to being shut down.

Chapman (hand) took 30 swings off a tee Friday and is optimistic that he will be able to participate in live batting practice this weekend, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
In addition, Chapman mentioned that he was feeling better after receiving another cortisone shot in his hand, along with a nerve injection as well. If all goes according to plan this weekend, the next step will be deciding whether he will require a short minor-league rehab assignment or if he can return to the big leagues immediately. Look for an update later on this weekend.

Chapman received a cortisone shot in his hand and will attempt to hit Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chroniclereports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman's status essentially remains as-is for now, and the next step in his recovery will be determined based on how much he is able to do Thursday. It remains to be seen if he will need a rehab assignment before rejoining the A's.

Chapman's injury has been more precisely defined as being to just above his wrist as opposed to his thumb, and he'll potentially receive a second cortisone shot, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman will see hand specialist Dr. Steven Shin in Los Angeles on Monday for further evaluation and the possibility of a second shot. Slusser also reports that Chapman will not be able to join the team during the four-game set against the Tigers that begins Monday, but that he'd have a strong chance of returning for the homestand that begins Friday against the Indians if the shot alleviates his current discomfort.

Chapman (thumb) received a cortisone injection for his bruised right thumb Tuesday, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman underwent further evaluation for the injury Monday, and while the official diagnosis remains unclear, the injection appears to indicate it's not a major issue. The 25-year-old could resume taking swings Thursday if the treatment works as intended.

Chapman will get further evaluation of his hand injury Monday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
An MRI had previously revealed no structural damage, but Chapman was nevertheless placed on the disabled list Friday. The fact that he's getting further evaluation is potentially a bad sign, though the severity of his injury should become a lot clearer following the visit.
