Chapman projects as the everyday third baseman and No. 7 hitter in the coming season despite a difficult spring, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman hasn't exactly had the most encouraging of springs, dealing with a hand injury early and generating a .179 average with three doubles, one home run and five RBI over 43 plate appearances across 15 games. However, he'll get an immediate chance to begin building on a respectable rookie 2017 campaign, one that saw him slash .234/.313/.472 with 39 extra-base hits (23 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs). Whittling down a 28.2 percent strikeout rate and boosting a .313 OBP figure to be two priorities entering 2018, with improvement in both areas likely to result in an appreciable uptick in his metrics across the board.

Chapman (hand) didn't feel any discomfort when swinging the bat Sunday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman played five innings and went 0-for-2 with a walk during Sunday's game against the Padres. A hand injury had been hindering Chapman for all of camp, but now that he's healthy he'll focus on finding his groove at the plate.

Chapman (hand) is expected to make his spring training debut Sunday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman has been dealing with a hand injury for all of camp, but the issue did not appear to be serious. He'll be back with plenty of time to get up to speed by Opening Day and will be the A's regular third baseman.

Manager Bob Melvin said Chapman (hand) is expected to take batting practice Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman was able to resume swinging Thursday for the first time since injuring his right hand earlier in camp. The 24-year-old hit soft toss while also hitting off a tee, and apparently everything went off without a hitch. If Saturday's batting practice session goes as planned, Chapman could make his Cactus League debut shortly thereafter.

Chapman (hand) has been cleared to resume hitting Thursday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman will continue to work his way back from an injured right hand. It's likely that the club will keep him out of spring games for a while longer until he's able to show significant progress but this is obviously another step forward for the third baseman. In his place, Chad Pinder will receive more time at the hot corner and will start against the Cubs on Wednesday in Cactus League game.

MRI results on Chapman's injured right hand came back negative, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the good news, lingering inflammation in Chapman's hand will likely cause him to miss a portion of spring training, although that length of time remains undetermined. When healthy, the 24-year-old projects to be Oakland's starting third baseman this season.

Chapman underwent a precautionary MRI on his right hand in Los Angeles on Thursday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chapman left the team's spring camp after he experience soreness in the palm of his hand. It doesn't appear as though there's too much concern over his status but more should be known once the results of his examination are released. In 2017, Chapman hit .234/.313/.472 with 14 home runs and 40 RBI in 84 contests.

Chapman went 2-for-3 with two RBI from a run-scoring single and a solo home run and also walked in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie went deep for the first time since Sept. 19 and extended his modest hitting streak to three games in the process. Chapman has a pair of multi-hit efforts in the last five contests as well and now has double-digit RBI for the second straight month. While he's understandably struggled with consistency in his first exposure to big-league pitching this season (.230 average and .330 OBP), Chapman has displayed some nice pop (21 doubles, two triples, 14 homers), considerably raising expectations heading into 2018.

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old's round tripper was his first since Sept. 10 and helped snap a 1-for-21 slump over the previous six games. Chapman has seven extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and three homers) overall in September, which has partly made up for an unsightly .217 average over that span.

Chapman is out of Friday's lineup against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
With Oakland playing in a National League park, Ryon Healy will get the nod at third base, hitting fifth, which pushes Chapman to the bench. Chapman should be available as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement.
