Teoscar Hernandez - Promising or Pretender? rotoballer.com Fri 1/4/19 9:00 AM
Every new beginning signifies an end elsewhere. This was the case for Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez last season. The hard-hitting righty broke through in more ways than one in his first full year in the big leagues, finishing with a .239/.302/.468 line, and most importantly 22 home runs. The path to the plate wasnt clear-cut for Hernandez, though. An injury to Blue Jays' third baseman Josh Donaldson opened up a spot on the 25-man roster, but before that, expectations were tepid.[...]

The new year is upon us, which means that it's officially time to start preparing for your 2019 fantasy baseball drafts (if you haven't yet). This column will take a deep diveinto two player profiles to attempt to predict how players will perform for their fantasy owners before they take the plunge. We'll start by using ADP (Average Draft Position) data from NFBC drafts to determine the cost associated with owning a player, but that's subject to change as more data becomes available.[...]

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (shoulder) underwent a left shoulder scope on Friday, but it was a minor cleanup procedure. The A's say that Chapman should be swinging a bat again in six weeks. Chapman is one of the better young third basemen in baseball both offensively and defensively. He hit .278/.356/.508 with 24 home runs, 68 RBI and 100 runs scored for a surprising A's team in 2018. He'll turn 26 years old next April and is quickly becoming one of the best fantasy third basem[...]
Statcast Review - 2018 Hitting Leaders (Exit Velocity) rotoballer.com Fri 11/16/18 9:30 AM
After a full fantasy season of using Statcast measures to predicting risers and fallers each week, its time to take a step back and view the big picture. One of the most straightforward Statcast measurements we relied on was exit velocity or the speed the ball comes off the bat immediately after being hit.It is well known that certain players consistently mash the ball (Aaron Judge, Joey Gallo, Giancarlo Stanton, J.D. Martinez) and, not surprisingly, they made their way to the top of the list fo[...]
Batting Average Risers - 2018 MLB Season Recap rotoballer.com Tue 11/6/18 7:10 AM
The 2018 season has now come and gone (so sad!), so it is now time to dive into trends and projections for next season! One of the main stats for measuring batters success is batting average.Surprisingly, Jose Altuve is the only player that was a holdover in the top 10 of batting average from 2017 to 2018. Injuries to Daniel Murphy, Justin Turner, and Avisail Garcia saw them drop from the list while players like Eric Hosmer and Buster Posey had uncharacteristically poor seasons. Here is the list [...]
