Matt Carpenter Back in the Lineup for Tuesday's Series Opener rotoballer.com Tue 5/15/18 1:00 PM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Minnesota Twins. Carpenter was on the bench for the entire weekend series against the San Diego Padres so that he'd have a chance to work on his swing. He's hitting just .145/.294/.282 so far this season, and he'll need to start showing some more production if he wants to remain a member of the Cardinals starting lineup.
Matt Carpenter Gets Sunday Off rotoballer.com Sun 5/6/18 12:53 PM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is out of the lineup for the Cardinals' Sunday night matchup against the Cubs. It is just a day off to rest up for a veteran who desperately needs it. Carpenter is batting .165 this season, posting the highest strikeout rate of his career at 26.2%. Though he is off to a terrible start, he is still getting on base at a .320 clip and his .203 BABIP suggests that his average should be on the rise. [...]
Matt Carpenter Out of the Lineup Again on Friday rotoballer.com Fri 4/27/18 11:55 AM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Carpenter has now started off two of the last three games on the bench. It's been due to lefty starters going for the opposition, but Carpenter played almost every day last season. It would be a significant blow to his fantasy value if he continued to play only against right-handed pitching. Jedd Gyorko is starting at third base on Friday, with Kolten [...]
Matt Carpenter Is Out of the Lineup for Wednesday's Game rotoballer.com Wed 4/25/18 1:46 PM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Jedd Gyorko is starting at third base, with Kolten Wong at second, and Jose Martinez at first. More often than not, it seems the Cardinals will go with Martinez at first and Gyorko at third, but Carpenter should be getting most of the starts at second base. Wednesday is likely just a day off for the versatile infielder.

Jose Martinez Not in Tuesday's Lineup rotoballer.com Tue 4/10/18 1:33 PM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jose Ramirez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Martinez is dealing with an Achilles' injury that he suffered on a collision at first base during Monday's game. It doesn't seem like a major injury, as Martinez expects to be available to pinch hit on Tuesday. Matt Carpenter is taking the start at first base with Yairo Munoz working across the diamond at third base.
Jose Martinez Gets the Start at First Base on Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 4/5/18 12:04 PM
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jose Martinez is getting the start at first base and batting fifth in Thursday's lineup. With regular third baseman Jedd Gyorko on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, Matt Carpenter is playing second base and Yairo Munoz is at third. Martinez can flat out hit and should be owned in most formats. His fielding leaves much to be desired, but if he hits to his potential, the Cardinals will have to keep finding a place for him in the lineup and on the field.
Jose Martinez Gets 2018 Off to a Strong Start rotoballer.com Thu 3/29/18 2:00 PM
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Jose Martinez got off to a great start on Opening Day, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Martinez smashed a home run in the sixth inning and had a pair of singles to go with it. Most importantly, Matt Carpenter started at third base, giving Martinez a spot in the lineup at first base. Consistent playing time is still a slight concern, but Martinez has the bat to force his way into the lineup and into fantasy relevance in all formats. He might still[...]

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter (back, shoulder) made his 2018 Grapefruit League debut on Tuesday, walking twice and scoring two runs. Carpenter has been recovering from a back injury and is still dealing with a shoulder issue that plagued him last season. Still, it seems like everything went OK on Tuesday, and unless something changes, he should be ready to go for Opening Day. It's still unclear if Carpenter will stick at first base or if he will play in the super-utility role the[...]
