Adams was added to the Cardinals' active roster Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Adams will be available for Wednesday's series finale after being acquired from the Nationals via trade earlier in the week. The 30-year-old is hitting .257/.332/.510 with 18 homers through 94 games this season. Daniel Poncedeleon was sent to the minors to make room for Adams.

Adams was traded from Washington to St. Louis in exchange for cash considerations Tuesday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adams had seen his role shrink after Ryan Zimmerman returned from the disabled list at the All-Star break. It's unclear exactly how the Cardinals will configure their lineup, but regular first baseman Matt Carpenter can also play second and third and Adams can also play (poorly) in the outfield, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get his bat into the lineup. He's hit a solid .257/.332/.510 with 18 homers this season, so the Cardinals will want him in there against righties on a regular basis.

Adams will start at first base and bat seventh Sunday against the Marlins, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though he'll enter the lineup in place of a resting Ryan Zimmerman, Adams has generally seen his playing time fall by the wayside since the beginning of August. Adams will be making just his seventh start in 19 games this month and hasn't made a compelling case for more playing time after opening August with a 2-for-30 showing at the dish.

Adams is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Adams will retreat to the bench to avoid a lefty-on-lefty matchup with Cubs' starter Cole Hamels. Ryan Zimmerman will man first base in his stead.

Adams is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports
EDGE Analysis
Adams will remain on the bench for a third consecutive game with southpaw Jon Lester on the hill for Chicago. Since another left-hander (Cole Hamels) is set to start Sunday's series finale, Adams may have to settle for a pinch-hitting role the rest of this weekend. In his place, Ryan Zimmerman will man first base and bat sixth.

Adams is out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cubs, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adams will take a seat for the second consecutive game as he is 2-for-19 with a home run and three RBI in August. Ryan Zimmerman will start at first base and bat sixth against Cubs' right-hander Kyle Hendricks.

Adams is not in the lineup against the Braves on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Adams will take a seat in favor of Ryan Zimmerman after going 0-for-3 with one walk during Wednesday's loss. Since the beginning of August, Adams has gone just 2-for-19 with one home run and three RBI.

Adams is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Adams will remain on the bench for the second half of Tuesday's twin bill with the Braves sending out another lefty starter (Sean Newcomb). Ryan Zimmerman will stick at first base for Game 2.

Adams will be on the bench for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Adams has had the playing-time edge at first base recently, starting four of the last five games. The Nationals will face lefties in both halves of the doubleheader, so it's possible Adams sits for both. Ryan Zimmerman gets the start for the first game.

Adams will start at first base and bat sixth Wednesday against the Mets, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adams was withheld from the starting nine in Tuesday's 25-4 win over the Mets, but still ended up logging two at-bats due to manager Dave Martinez emptying the bench amid the blowout victory. He took infielder-turned-pitcher Jose Reyes deep for a two-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning, leaving Adams just three home runs shy of matching his career-best total of 20, which he established a season ago. Adams' path to an everyday role is muddled with Ryan Zimmerman back to full health, but the former should still benefit from a handful of starts per week.
